Hello. I have provoked primary vulvodynia/ vestibulodynia (originally I was diagnosed with vaginismus but I have since been cured of that). I have tried ABG cream numerous times. The first time it was mixed in versabase, it burned so bad and even caused peeling on the inner part of my labia minora.
The burning would last hours and even into the next day, and it would make my urethra burn too. Then I tried it mixed in the ellage base, same thing except no peeling. Finally I was sick of all this wasted money and eventually got a sample base of methylcellulose gel with no medication mixed in to see if I would react to this base. NO BURNING! I was so excited to tell my pharmacist so she could mix in the medication. I finally got to try it and guess what? IT STILL BURNS. I think I'm allergic or I'm having a reaction to the medication, specifically the amitriptyline. The burning lasts hours and it also hurts when I pee (is this normal, should I just power through it??). This is so disheartening and I'm not sure what to do next. I've tried these creams, pelvic floor pt, Botox/steroid injections, oral medications. Nothing has worked. The last resort for me is surgery but I'm scared that will also make my pain worse.

I came home from work yesterday absolutely exhausted, I fought sleep all day because I knew if I had slept then I’d only sleep for a couple of hours and ruin my actual sleep later that night. EXCEPTTTT when it was finally bedtime I CANT SLEEP. I was tired and exhausted I wanted nothing more but to sleep but I couldn’t and I kept tossing and turning, growing more and more frustrated. This happens pretty often and I’m getting so sick of it. What are the typical next steps? I’m afraid if I tell my doctor she’ll just give me some sleep hygiene pamphlet and that’s it. This doesn’t seem like a sleep hygiene issue I feel like I’m doing everything else right.

Hi! My original prescription was compounded in versabase and that BURNED for hours and made the skin on the inner part of my labia minora peel. Then I tried it with the ellage base. This burns too but not as badly as the versabase. Will this go away eventually? it’s only been about less than a week but the burning has been the same all the days. What else can I get this compounded in if the ellage doesn’t work either? I’ve heard creme de la femme and methyl cellulose base, anything else? Also if for whatever reason my local compounding pharmacy can’t do it, please point me to an online compounding pharmacy that delivers!

I’m currently on 50mg of Nortriptyline and it’s doing nothing. I can move up the dosage, but not sure if I should. For any of you, did it slowly get better or did you find a dosage that worked all of a sudden? I hope that question makes sense. I’ve tried gabapentin and it did nothing too. My doctor said my other options are duloxetine (cymbalta), pregabalin (lyrica), and amitriptyline (elavil).
