Sexism in the barbershop
I just had to rant cause this kind of ruined my day.
A client I’ve never had before booked me and when he came in he saw me and he’s like oh you’re cutting my hair? I wanted a man. And WALKED OUT. This is a very busy day and this could have been an actual paying client.
This happened in front of the whole shop and as soon as he left we were all just like wth??
As a woman barber I’ve never had this happen to me before in all my 6 years of cutting in barbershops. Even other people who told me at the end of the haircut I’ve never had a woman cut my hair (but I end up impressing them) at LEAST they gave me the chance to show them women can cut hair just as good as a man can.
I’m just wondering if there’s any woman barbers on here that can give me some advice or if you’ve gone through something similar. Or any men barbers what your experience witnessing this is? Or why men do this?
I’m kind of at a loss for words right now.
