Pre-Wedding Photoshoot - What to Expect

Hi there. I’ve been shooting film since April 2025 with my Nikon F3 and I bought a Pentax 6x7 recently that I had the chance to test it a few times.

My friend has a wedding next month and she asked me to shoot pre-wedding pictures for her and her husband to be.

I usually do landscape photography so I don’t have much experience in shooting portraits let alone a pre-wedding scenario.

I recently did a portrait photoshoot for a friend of mine so I’m not too scared of this idea but I don’t know how to approach it.

Here’s a few questions I have so I’d be glad if anyone who did such photoshoots on film before could reply I’d appreciate it a lot.

  1. Which film stocks other than Portra would you recommend?

  2. Is it better to stick with one camera/format or should I shoot with both cameras?

  3. Do you bring any external lights/reflectors for your photoshoots? Do you think it’s an absolute must?

  4. My friend is offering money for the photoshoot but I don’t know how to rate my work. Also I am not sure if its okay to charge her for this since she is a good friend of mine.

  5. How many rolls of 35/120mm film I should expect to shoot?

I’d appreciate any tips in general. Thank you in advance.
