One year MLS program
Do anyone know of any one-year MLS training programs in Texas? I’d like to return to California after completing the program, so I don’t want to go too far from home since I have young kids.
Thank you!

Hi everyone,
Today was my first day of externship at urgent care. I only had one chance to draw blood. The staff told me I was lucky because sometimes students may wait several days before getting a chance to practice.
I also noticed that one CBC order was prepared with a red/yellow gel tube, and I mentioned that CBC is usually collected in a lavender EDTA tube. Most of the staff there are medical assistants, and there is no phlebotomist onsite for training.
Most of the day I stayed at the front desk helping highlight paperwork and patient information. I feel a little worried because I am not getting enough hands-on practice yet.
Have any of you had a similar experience during externship? What did you do to improve your learning and practice opportunities?
