BRC breakdown
I guess this is just a rant. I’m a key carrier BRC, it’s my 4th week in the role. We had a huge back-log of pallets at the cross dock that caused a literal week from hell last week. I can’t get caught up despite having an efficient team, there isn’t room for us to process in the back because of the pallet count. Today was supposed to be a big day to bust through pallets bc I had a larger team and ASM help, but I’m out sick. I just learned I don’t get sick time until a year with the company, and we don’t accept doctor’s notes?? I truly don’t understand. So I’m expected to come to work sick, in a room with no AC, and do physical labor for sometimes 9, 10, 11 hours a day, and what? Hope I get sent home? I couldn’t even get to the store this morning because it was food poisoning. I never received a benefits packet, so I have to call HR to get that, otherwise maybe I would have known about sick-time accrual from the start. The first few months with TJX felt like I had made the right choice, and now it feels like one big mistake. I know my managers don’t want to cancel a truck because it looks bad, and I hate feeling like a failure or a disappointment. But it feels like there’s no way out of this pallet back-log and no matter what we do each day is just hit after hit. I go home and think about work, dream about breaking pallets down, I feel like I’m losing my mind. I have vacation and personal time to use but I can’t imagine not being there to help except for today when I physically cannot get out of the bathroom. And I’m still thinking about work, all day. It doesn’t feel sustainable to my mental or physical health anymore which makes me really sad. How does anyone do this job?
