Anyone else’s store no longer taking returns from Marshall’s, Homegoods, etc.?

At the beginning of the year, at a managers discretion, our store is no longer taking returns from Marshalls or any other store linked to the company. The reason being that the dept and style numbers are not the same as ours and it’s a pain in the butt to translate them to ours. I’m just wondering if anyone else’s store did the same?

Ordering alcohol???

ASM has been ordering alcohol to the store and keeping it in the office, then picks it up on his day off? Sometimes even in his day off, the other store managers call him in to pick up his orders. not sure if the official store manager knows but is this allowed???

best way to quit

i’ve been with the company for almost 4 years and have been miserable for 2 of them. i’ve asked a lot of times to be trained elsewhere. i fucking hate being on cashier all day, everyday. it’s fucking drain and im sick of it. the customers 50% of the time don’t treat me well, and it’s hard to find a job but i want to leave before the holiday season or even before my birthday which is in August. what’s my best option, on how to handle this. i’m sick of crying myself to sleep every night, i feel more depressed every single shift.

quit!

i used to work at marshalls and i just quit on friday and it’s honestly the best decision i made this year. this was my first job and im glad they gave me the opportunity to work but honestly i will never work for this terrible company again. my managers are so toxic and rude and my co workers are fake as hell, my manager had the nerve to be mad at me for quitting but i literally get scheduled one day a week part time? clearly you don’t need me. sometimes i would go 2 weeks without getting scheduled. if you want me to do all this work for just 63 dollars every week you must be out of your mind. genuinely a terrible company. im kind of ranting sorry but im so happy i quit this terrible job i just wanted to express it

FUCK YOU ERNIE 🗣️🖕

Fuck you Ernie Herman! This fat fuck cares more about making 60 BILLION DOLLARS IN SALES while he cuts hours, pays his employees the bare minimum, and forces his other corporate employees to force the store employees to harass customers to sign up for credit cards meanwhile the employees working in these stores deal with all of the bullshit first hand!!! The abuse from the company and the abuse from the customers. All just to not even make ends meet and not be able to afford to eat 3 meals a day. I am SURE this loser hasn’t dealt with customers one on one EVER! Everyone, BOOO this disgusting and pathetic piece of shit with me!!!!
BOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!🗣️🗣️🗣️

How easy is it to get fired?

So basically I kind of suck at my job. I don’t get any cards because I don’t feel like it’s morally the right thing to do. I constantly scan people’s items more than once to the point where they have to come back and complain to my manager about me, and I also take forever to bag things. I’m new, so I haven’t been trained on the back room stuff yet, but I do need a new phone and a couple thousand dollars by August next year. At this rate I’m making like $300 a month 😭(and this is with me having an entirely open availability) and I feel sooo bad because my managers are nice and like me, but I feel like I hold everyone back and I don’t wanna get fired, so I might quit. But I’m trying to give myself grace because I can’t do that every time something like this happens in my life. It’s just sooo demoralizing.

I used to work at Publix from like 14–16, and 14-year-old me messed up a lot and learned a lot throughout those 2 years. I was actually pretty good at my job when I became a cashier. They weren’t hiring when I moved, so I ended up here, but this feels so different. I’m kind of learning. I can take all the tags off, I can put stuff back since it’s easier to find things than in grocery, but I constantly need help, and at this rate I feel like they’re going to find someone else. I feel even worse about quitting because it’s gonna suck if all of this feels like a waste of time when it was already so hard to find a job anyway.

Full time vs part time

We have about 50 employees at my store and only 1 full time employee, how is this fair?!!? So realistically the only people making a liveable wage are management, coordinators, and one person. Everyone at my store seems miserable right now because of lack of hours and management getting on us about time standards. I have been there 10 months and my pay still says new hire. I am considering bringing up unionizing to a couple of coworkers whom I trust. I know little about it though and I am worried management will get word and talk to me about it.For more context I also live in Canada so I work for winners. Is it worth it to try or should I start looking for another job:/ I am truly just upset because I know I am a good worker and deserve more (along with all of my coworkers they deserve more).

Co-workers say I have to open a TjMaxx credit card if I am working there, is this a lie?

These two girls I work with have said that I need to open a credit card with tjmaxx since I work there - they will bring this up if I am working with them when the store is about to close if we haven't met our daily quota of cards for the day. They say that everyone has to get a card if they work there but one of the girls that is telling me this is literally a minor so she legally couldn't get a card in the first place(why would they hire her if she cant get a card)??? ALSO, my managers have never told me that I needed to open a card if I worked there.

I am pretty sure that they are lying but I just want to make sure that I wont get in trouble for not having a card.

(I really don't want this to be my first credit card)

I think a colleague was framed

Title says it. They let her go today. It started a couple of months ago. My colleague is an immigrant and the same ethnicity I am. Let’s call her Maddie.

My store manager or coordinator would hand me things to give Maddie to mark down as much as possible at the register and then hand them back to me. My store manger and coordinators have asked one more person of our ethnicity who works at this store to do the same.

Now today they showed Maddie camera footage of marking things down and handing them to her “friends”, then they gave her papers and let her go.

My other colleagues were talking in the break room about Maddie and how she is a thief and she will never get hired at any other store or retailer because she now has theft in the background check?

First off, how can they do this?! How is this even legal?
Second, is it true that she cannot get a job anymore because of this?! We are in California if that matters.

It’s so messed up, I cannot stop thinking about her.

Truck Time Standards

Has any other store recently put time limits on how the back room breaks down the truck? They’re saying the team should completely finish a pallet in 10 MINUTES? We’re a 16 pallet store and they want it all broken down in 2 hours and 40 minutes. That seems impossible to me and to the back room team. Any other stores enforcing this?

Admin Responsibilities

I am the Admin Coordinator at my store. I am curious what your responsibilities are? I feel like they barely let me actually be an admin. I spend more time manning the fitting room than I do being an admin.
Let me know what your daily tasks and responsibilities are.

Anyone else store changing there system with departments

Apparently at our store and a couple other in our district they are choosing too more or less have everyone on the sales floor be labeled as just a sales floor associate and not be placed in individual departments until further notice, meaning everyone will be everywhere, but my issue with this is they said “say 1 person is on the sales floor and home go backs are filled, guess who’s doing it… that one person how the fuck are we suppose to get recovery done and all this while also getting called to register?? Idk this just seems too much for such little result and they said this could be permanent which makes it worse idk a little rant but they r also doing it only because they are trying to push as much out as possible, whilst also having limited space too push, because we also have a limited amount of people too yet they want too compare out little store to bigger stores in neighboring towns, whole system is dicked up

For any ASM I’m new to the company and I have a power of choice workshop schedule in July. Can anyone tell me what that is and what to expect? TIA!

Recent Pay Increase

Can anyone explain the recent pay increase for certain employees, but NOT all employees?

I've heard it explained as a coat of living adjustment, a minimum wage increase attributed to certain states.

But why is it ONLY for some employees and not ALL employees?

Should I just expect the usual 25 cent pay raise for my annual review in 1 month (after being with the company for 7 years)... While other people get a 35-75 cent raise now and then they get an extra raise during their annual review in 1 month?

How is that fair, just because they have been with the company for a shorter period?

Make it make sense!

I’m quitting

Long story short I hate my store specifically because of my as*hole coworkers. My coworkers make my job harder than the actual job itself. I work with quite a few individuals I dislike even though I’ve fought hard to ignore it I simply cannot unfortunately.

When I got hired I loved the job. I loved working there and the customers are so so kind and I have so many regular customers that i enjoy seeing all the time but I have to quit this job. It’s taken a toll on my mental and physical health and I haven’t even worked for this company for 2 years yet. It’s absolutely awful. We have a new store manager. The pushing the TJX cards and the toxic work environment is enough for me to throw the towel in. Corporate cutting hours as well is making it the final straw. I’m replaceable but f this company.
