Returns have been horrendous

Disgusting. Fitting room My whole shift now I get return tubs over flowing the top, sensor and hang clothes that just sit there because no one is scheduled to come in until 2:00. To return the shit back to the floor. And Im seeing more things being returned than ever, including a kleenex in the pocket, hair on the collars and lipstick and make up on the clothes. Men's and womens. Dumb ass customers shopping the return racks behind me next to me. I don't know about all of you but I deserve and expect my personal space. Get the fuck out if my face. One day Im going to blow.

20%

Anyone have any idea of the next 20%? My manager didn’t know. I know we usually have one November/December but I couldn’t remember if we had one in September or October.

Backroom Shifts

Does your store have one or two shifts in the backroom? How does it work if it’s two shifts?

I’m hearing rumblings we may go from one shift to two.

Employee holds

I know it’s company policy not to hold customer items till the close of the business day. If you are an associate does your store hold it for associates! During the 20% weekend I wanted a specific coffee maker and it was $999 at Homegoods. I also needed to buy a large floor rug and a lot of kitchen items. I asked someone on the floor who happened to be standing next me if the store will hold till the next morning for associates for a sister store. Her response was I don’t see why not. When I asked the cash if I can place the items on hold till the next morning. The cashier was flat out rude and was insulted that I never asked. I explained that I work for the company but at a different location, she was like we can’t put stuff on hold. She called a manager and the manager was condescending and i just said thank you and walked out. They lost a sale for well over 1k because i am redoing my kitchen and living and replaced all small appliances, gadgets and other things.

BRC breakdown

I guess this is just a rant. I’m a key carrier BRC, it’s my 4th week in the role. We had a huge back-log of pallets at the cross dock that caused a literal week from hell last week. I can’t get caught up despite having an efficient team, there isn’t room for us to process in the back because of the pallet count. Today was supposed to be a big day to bust through pallets bc I had a larger team and ASM help, but I’m out sick. I just learned I don’t get sick time until a year with the company, and we don’t accept doctor’s notes?? I truly don’t understand. So I’m expected to come to work sick, in a room with no AC, and do physical labor for sometimes 9, 10, 11 hours a day, and what? Hope I get sent home? I couldn’t even get to the store this morning because it was food poisoning. I never received a benefits packet, so I have to call HR to get that, otherwise maybe I would have known about sick-time accrual from the start. The first few months with TJX felt like I had made the right choice, and now it feels like one big mistake. I know my managers don’t want to cancel a truck because it looks bad, and I hate feeling like a failure or a disappointment. But it feels like there’s no way out of this pallet back-log and no matter what we do each day is just hit after hit. I go home and think about work, dream about breaking pallets down, I feel like I’m losing my mind. I have vacation and personal time to use but I can’t imagine not being there to help except for today when I physically cannot get out of the bathroom. And I’m still thinking about work, all day. It doesn’t feel sustainable to my mental or physical health anymore which makes me really sad. How does anyone do this job?

Power out Store closed....still have to work

Tell me WHY that half of our store power is out and our backroom and break room are flooded...but workers still have to come in. It's literally dark besides the emergency lights and there's water everywhere but they still want us moving freight. Don't see how this is safe or okay, but just a heads up if this happens to y'all.

Maybe I'm just not use to shit like this but I don't understand how you can still have your workers come in. My store refuses to close too so this is new. Last time we had half power we let people still shop until the lights flickered again..

I really messed up and i dont know what to do

today was my first day on register at homegoods. A woman came and said she wanted to do two transactions. she was buying a bag full of a boxed food items. we were making good conversation. I pushed the button for her to pay. she taped the card, then looked in her cart and saw another of that item she wanted in that transaction. At this point, it was on the recipt screen but i didn't realize, i tried to cancel and clicked the x button to go back and add the item because she really wanted it on the same transaction.

I said I dont think it would work to add it, she started getting very upset and yelling at me. I was starting to tear up so I turned around to the manager behind me and he stepped in. I went to the bathroom to stop crying. I came back and they did the two separate transactions. redoing the first one.

Now that Im home, Im realizing that she did pay the first time, and I didnt give her the receipt. I was so panicked being yelled at and I did think I canceled it so I put it in the receipt box below the register. So she left paying twice for that first transaction.

Im freaking out that I messed up this bad and Im thinking about her coming back in after realizing and yelling at me again. I dont know what to tell my manager, I have tomorrow off but I think I should call? Please help i cant sleep.

How is save the children and Tjs been for you guys?

I feel like no one cares to donate to really anything anymore. Maybe because everyone is struggling financially? Our donations are usually pretty good but this year we barley have any

Just wondering if it’s like that for anyone else

Did they give you these coloring sheets?

They gave us these coloring sheets for coloring day. I'm going to color and frame mine and put them next to my five year certificate (in the closet).

Assistant Store Manager (ASM) Interview

Hello! I recently applied to the assistant store manager position at TJ Maxx and was wondering if anyone could give me any insight into the interview questions they ask? I have a phone interview on Thursday but I was told by my friend that works for the company that they would then call me in for a second in-person interview. If anyone could give me any insight into what questions to prepare for or what to prepare that would be great!

TikTok Live Shoppers - GFY!! 🫩

The TikTok live personal shoppers are THE WORST!!!! They come in on weekends usually or during the evenings near when we are going to close and they take their sweet ass time shopping, putting shit back in the wrong spots, walking around talking on their phones like they are talking to themselves in thin air but they are talking to stupid lazy ass people online who ask to look at hundreds of fucking items. These live shoppers are THE ABSOLUTE WORST!! I especially hate it when these shoppers go to the jewelery section and take up ALL OF OUR TIME !! When we have other customers to attend too, when the store is busy as hell, and when I have a million other things to do like put away beauty items, or grab a purse for a customer, help cashiering, and cleaning up my station + beauty + purses + scarves + go backs + price checks + luggage + runway & ETC!!! They ask to see items in jewelry multiple times, they will go around the counter and ask to see jewelery items, they will try them on, they will write on the fucking price tags/tickets and half the time they put the item back bc the customer that they are personally shopping for changes their mind or they don’t pay them by the end of the shoppers trip…. When they don’t want certain items and if they already wrote on the fucking tag themselves, employees have to make an entirely new tag for the item which isn’t only time consuming as hell but it’s tedious with jewelery because the tags are so small!! I HATE YOU PERSONAL TIKTOK LIVE SHOPPERS SO SO SO MUCH! You live shoppers are literal shopping addicts and you waste so much of employees time while taking your sweet ass time being indecisive about shit. Get a fucking life!! Stop coming into tj maxx stores and shop online?? Stop coming to the stores in general. If I see a tiktok live shopper, I will make you wait and wait to be helped or I’ll just ignore you entirely since you have no regard whatsoever to my time. I’ve stopped helping the TikTok live shoppers for the most part tbh. It’s my job to help our customers that are actually INSIDE of the store. Not YOUR CUSTOMERS!
Btw all of the employees hate you live shoppers too and we talk a ton of shit about you guys on the walkies 🤣

Returns are out of hand

You know TJMaxx can legally charge a re-stocking fee. Even if it's only 25 cents a piece. The returns are ridiculous. I've also noticed during the holidays we get the silly outfits and sweaters. Problem is they get returned right away. HMMMMM they get there family photo then make the returns. Usually a man's large, a woman's medium, and one or 2 in children's sizes.stop the insanity . Please it's driving use to be hostile. I sure am. I also saw 3 satin dresses. Could be used as a simple bridesmaid dress. So after the weekend all 3 dresses identical are returned. Put the SENSORS on the outside middle of the garment. I bet it would cut the problem down considerably. But I also know it makes to much sense. The same thing day after day after day. Please stop. Help your employees TJMAXX

ASM wanting to quit

So I’ve been an ASM with the company for almost 2 years now, but with the company overall for almost 9. I’ve always had a love hate relationship with this place, but the hate has gotten worse since becoming an ASM.
I’m look for advice from previous ASM’s on how they went about quitting/stepping down and what was the turning point that made you want to. Also interested in how long you’d been in the position for 😗
