Saw this on tumblr and had to laugh 😂 What if this was Ezran’s arc in The Dragon King?

(copy-pasting post for convenience)

Yes, you’ve successfully dodged allegations of monarchism by having the heroic princess decide to abolish the monarchy and institute representative democracy in the last five minutes of the game. Bravo.

Now give us the sequel where every prospective heir in a thousand-mile radius comes out of the woodwork claiming she’s not allowed to do that and her actions should simply be construed as abdication, five different people declare themselves King, the nation plunges into civil war, and the ex-princess has to ninja around murdering all of her would-be successors in order to make the transition stick.

Is there anyone here who has admission to the "Digital Crew Meetings," and if so how much are you allowed to share?

Are they discussing any progress toward Arc 3/The Dragon King? So far all I've seen on social media is the showrunners discussing the animated short for the Kickstarter apparently titled "Barius Dreams of Jelly Tarts." Have they discussed how much you are or are not allowed to share with other fans?

I'd be interested to hear more, even if it's "Yeah, these discussions are happening but we can't share anything publicly." Thanks so much!

Things I actually really liked in season 4

  • Callum's possession really raised the stakes with the Aaravos' creep factor and introduces him as a personal threat to the protagonists rather than just working through Viren
    • Watching him grill all the heroes on their biggest vulnerabilities hit hard too, underlining that they don't know anything about him, but he knows an awful lot about them...
  • It also gave us the most information we ever got as to how and why humans and Xadians banded together to imprison Aaravos and why he's such a threat on the global stage (despite the entire Arc 2 being titled "The Mystery of Aaravos)
  • This is virtually the only season that treats Rayla leaving Callum as a problem (aside from the one scene with Amaya in season 5). Not that I wanted Callum to resent her for 3 seasons straight, but he's realistically upset and hurt, and the two characters have to actually communicate to try and work through this (Yay!). This is completely gone in the next seasons; not only does Callum not seem to care, his writing seems hellbent on denying it was a problem at all.
  • Showing Callum and Ezran being caring and protective of each other. This was such a focus of the first Arc, especially with them being orphaned, but I feel we rarely saw this after season 4.
  • Realistic depictions of what might happen when two civilizations with centuries of bad blood are suddenly forced to play nice: not everyone is happy about it. Ezran faces pushback from people dealing with very real pain caused by the people he's making them embrace, and has to confront that he himself has been hurt too. And then Opeli sends him off on a random adventure and it's never brought up again but still
  • I really liked seeing Viren try to change, and Claudia not allow it (precisely because of what Viren taught her). This really could have started to set up their character development diverging in opposite directions to prep Claudia for her tragic villain arc, but I don't think the rest of the arc really followed through.
    • I also genuinely liked Terry's interactions with both Claudia and Viren, before the later seasons kind of just hit the "supportive boyfriend" note over and over.

Honorable mention for what could have been: I think the Sunfire plot line could have actually been really good, if it focused on the theme of an entire civilization upended and being displaced from their home, and how that is a tinderbox just waiting for a bad actor to exploit when forced to work with and rely on people you were raised to hate. (Wow sounds awfully like what the Xadians did to the humans before the Mage Wars, would've loved to explore more of that— Oh hi Karim 😞)

Is there any news about SDCC this year?

I know there probably won't be an official schedule out yet, but has anyone heard any chatter from the showrunners on social media? Curious to hear if there's any news. Thanks!

[Spoilers MAIN] What do you think would happen if Jaime died young but Cersei was still married off to Robert?

In this scenario, Jaime died young in Robert’s Rebellion somehow but Tywin still marries Cersei to Robert. I don’t think that marriage would ever be a success, because at the end of the day Robert’s still a cheating abusive misogynist, and Cersei is proud enough that she would never take that lying down.

However, do you think the royal children could actually be Robert’s in this scenario? I do think Cersei would still wind up having some kind of an affair, but I’m less sure she would be willing to risk out-of-wedlock pregnancy with anyone but Jaime. I’m not certain though, I wouldn’t put it past her. How might that change things? I’d be interested to hear people’s thoughts, thanks!
