Hey everyone, here's this week's GFN Thursday update. You can read the official GeForce NOW blog update here

Spy thriller. Open-world racing. A bundle worth accepting.

This GFN Thursday, GeForce NOW is streaming two of the year's most anticipated titles — and one comes with a deal that's hard to refuse. It’s part of 8 new games joining the cloud this week.

A limited-time launch offer lets members who purchase a 12-month Ultimate membership by June 10 redeem 007 First Light and be ready to play at launch on May 27 — no preloads or waiting. The game is yours to keep and stream across devices from day one. Jump into a sharp reimagining of Bond's origin story — before the tux fit perfectly and the martinis got specific. Expect globe-trotting espionage, close calls and cinematic action that shapes how the world's most famous spy comes to be.

Then switch gears — literally. After early access in the cloud, Forza Horizon 6 is now launched and available to stream, bringing the series' signature open-world festival to members across devices. Race iconic cars across sweeping landscapes, jump into live events and soak in the energy of a world built entirely around car culture.

Don't miss this week’s new community spotlight, where GeForce NOW ambassador Cloud Gaming Battle sits down with Product Management Director Andrew Fear for a behind-the-scenes look at the service — a conversation the community has been enjoying.

Hello! If you’re new to cloud gaming or looking for more gaming options, this thread covers everything you need to know about GeForce NOW (GFN) and how it works.

Q. What is GeForce NOW?

GeForce NOW is NVIDIA’s cloud gaming service that lets you play PC games you already own — streamed from powerful RTX gaming rigs in the cloud.

  • No downloads besides the app, which means no downloads for patches/updates either
  • No installs of games taking up space on your device.
  • No high-end hardware required.
  • It’s like upgrading your current device into a high-end gaming PC instantly.

Q: What kind of devices can you use?

A: You can play on almost anything, most likely a device you already own —  from PC, Mac, mobile phones, tablets, Chromebooks, Smart TVs (including Amazon Fire TV Sticks), NVIDIA Shield, Handhelds (Steam Deck, ROG Ally, ect.), Linux (newly supported), and selected VR Headsets (Apple Vision, Pico, Quest 3). Check out more here.

Q: Does GeForce NOW support gamepads?

Yes, GeForce NOW supports most gaming controllers, including Xbox Series controllers, Sony PS5 DualSense/DualShock 4 controllers, SHIELD controller with the SHIELD TV,  and the Amazon Luna Controller with the native GFN app on Fire TV stick and more. Find a list of recommended gamepads here. Some controllers may have limited functionality and may require button remapping for the best experience.

Q: Where is GeForce NOW Supported?
A: GeForce NOW is supported in North America, Western Europe, Japan and India directly by NVIDIA. Other regions are supported through local partners, which may have different pricing or availability. The links to access these can be found in the General Section of our FAQ.

Q: How do you get started?

A: Getting started is quick:

  • Create a GeForce NOW account (premium day passes are a great way to try to experience before committing to a recurring membership — and you can even apply the value of a day pass towards a membership if you join within 24 hours of your day pass expiring)
  • Download the app to your device, or launch in your preferred browser
  • Link your supported game store and subscription accounts
  • Pick a supported title that you own
  • Click play, and jump into your game

Q: How much is GeForce NOW?

You can check out membership options here. Features are listed below, with an easy chart:

https://preview.redd.it/61yqjy0gxayg1.png?width=953&format=png&auto=webp&s=01b41cd8ecf96e4e475fca9fed52d6566de0e268

Free Performance (RTX) Ultimate RTX Blackwell (RTX)
Session Length 1 hour 6 hours 8 hours
Resolution/FPS Up to 1080p/60 FPS Up to 1440p/60 FPS Up to 5k/120 FPS or 360 FPS at 1080p
Monthly Cost $0 $9.99 $19.99
12 Months Cost $0 $99.99 $199.99
Day Passes* $0 $3.99 $7.99

*Day Passes are also available to try Premium Tiers. If you play it, like it, and want to upgrade, that price of the day pass will get credited towards whatever you choose for a premium membership.

Q: Will I ever be charged for the GeForce NOW free membership?

A: No — you don’t need to enter payment info to use the free tier. You can upgrade anytime.

Q: Is there a monthly playtime limit for GeForce NOW?

A: Yes. Starting in 2025, Performance and Ultimate memberships include a monthly playtime allowance of 100 hours. This change was implemented to continue providing high-quality service and keep wait times short for all members.

Q: Does my unused playtime roll over to the next month?

A: Yes. Up to 15 hours of unused playtime from your 100-hour monthly allowance will automatically roll over to your next billing cycle.

Q: What happens if I exceed my 100-hour monthly limit?

A: If a paid Performance or Ultimate member exceeds their 100-hour monthly allowance and chooses not to purchase additional priority hours, they can also continue to play for the remainder of their billing cycle using the Free tier experience.

Q: Can I buy more hours if I run out?

A: Yes. Members who reach their monthly limit have the option to purchase additional 15-hour blocks to regain first-access status before their next billing cycle begins.

Q: Does the 100-hour limit apply to Founders members?

A: No. Members with an active Founders membership are exempt from the 100-hour monthly limit. You will continue to receive unlimited priority playtime as long as your account remains in good standing.

Q: Does the 100-hour monthly limit apply to Free tier users?

A: No, the 100-hour monthly limit does not apply to the Free tier. The Free tier continues to offer unlimited total monthly playtime, though it remains subject to standard session restrictions, such as 1-hour session lengths and ad-supported access.

Q: How do I get RTX 5080 performance in order to stream in 5K?

A: Ultimate members get first priority access to RTX 5080-powered gaming rigs for streaming at up to 5K 120 FPS across the majority of the Ready-to-Play catalogue on GeForce NOW**.**

Q: Do I always have to wait in a queue in order to play on GeForce NOW?

A: Queues are most common on the free tier. Paid memberships receive priority access, though short waits can occasionally happen during periods of high demand (like big game launches, updates or maintenance).

Q: What do the session lengths even mean?

A: Session lengths are how long you can play before the session ends, but games cannot be 'suspended/paused' between sessions, so the game must be exited before the session is over. You will get a pop up warning at 30, 15, 10, and 5 minutes left at the top of the screen letting you know when you're close to reaching the limit. You can relaunch right after your session ends.

Q: Do I have to repurchase my games for GeForce NOW?

A: No. You connect your existing accounts and play games you already own from platforms like Steam, Ubisoft Connect, EA App, Epic Games Store, GOG, and Xbox. You can also connect to existing subscription libraries like Ubisoft+ and PC Game Pass to stream supported titles, too. Once your accounts are synced in the app, you can play games you already own, as long as they’re supported by the service.

Q: Do I keep my games if I stop using GeForce NOW?

A: YES! This is one of the best parts of GeForce NOW. Your games are your games. Since they’re tied to your game store accounts (Steam, Epic, etc.), not GeForce NOW, you can play them on any compatible PC anytime you want.

If you stop using GeForce NOW, you still own them and can access them through those platforms. Even if you buy a game while using GeForce NOW, the game is purchased from one of those stores and remains yours.

Q: What about game saves?

A: With cloud saves for supported games, you can pick up your game where you left off, on any supported device, wherever you are. You own your games and your game progress. In case cloud save is not available at the game, your save is stored in your NVIDIA Account (as a Ready to Play title), games that don’t support cloud save and are available as Install-to-Play, persistent cloud storage is required to store a game save file.

Q: What games are supported on GeForce NOW?

A: There are thousands of supported games. You can find a full list of games here, or sync your library in the app to see what you already own.

Q: Ready-to-Play or Install-to-Play – What’s the Difference?

A: GeForce NOW supports two different types of games — both let you play without using your own hardware, but they work a bit differently:

  • Ready-to-Play (R2P) games launch instantly with no setup required, no installs needed, and are kept up to date by NVIDIA. They’re fast and seamless to start playing — just click and go with your cloud saves. They’re tested for a seamless experience. We take care of all the work for you.
  • Install-to-Play (I2P) games enable premium members to download and install over 2,300 Steam games opted-in for Steam Cloud Gaming directly onto GeForce NOW cloud storage, similar to a local gaming PC experience. 100GB of single session cloud storage are included with both Ultimate and Performance memberships. Members who want persistent cloud storage to save all game installs and game saves across sessions (for games that don’t support Steam cloud saves) will have the flexibility to add-on additional cloud storage on top of their memberships.

Q: Does GeForce NOW offer a family plan?

A: No, it doesn't. You can try using Steam Family Sharing to share games, but this only allows for one user at a time to be sharing that library. The GFN works best for individuals versus sharing accounts.

Q: Do I have to login every time?

A: GeForce NOW supports single-sign on, which is account linking so you don’t have to re-enter your credentials each time with the following stores: Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox including the Microsoft Store and PC Game Pass), Ubisoft Connect, and Battle.net Improvements to account linking are also rolling out over time, with account linking for Gaijin single sign-on and GOG account linking and game library syncing most recently announced

Q: What kind of internet do you need?

A: For the best experience, we recommend a hardwired ethernet connection, or a router with a 5 GHz WiFi connection. For internet details with a full overview of speed recommendations, check here.

Q: Can you record your games on GeForce NOW?

A: Yes. Open up the overlay, press CTRL+G and access menus for recording, automatic highlights, and more to customize your content. This works in the native apps, not for browser.

Q: When will [X] game be added to GeForce NOW?

A: NVIDIA is always in constant talks to try to get the newest games added by publishers, who choose what games are available. GeForce NOW works on an opt-in basis, so in order for the game to be added, Publishers must first opt-in through the service through enabling Steam Cloud Play.

If there’s a game you’d like on the cloud, you can let the GFN team know and politely invite the developer or publisher to join GFN.

Q: How often are games added?

A: GeForce NOW is always adding new games. Games are announced weekly on GFN Thursdays and become available to play on the cloud throughout the week. 'Release Day' games are onboarded as soon as possible after their store release, but sometimes take a bit more time. Keep an eye on game updates here and on official channels.

Q. Why can’t my account use GeForce NOW? Why has my access to GeForce NOW been permanently disabled?

A. Your account has been permanently disabled due to a violation of the GeForce NOW Terms of Use (Section 3: Limitations).
When access is disabled, the following applies:

  • You will no longer be able to use GeForce NOW with this NVIDIA account.
  • Your GeForce NOW premium membership will be cancelled, including any add-ons like Persistent Cloud Storage, if applicable.
  • Any data stored in Persistent Cloud Storage will be permanently deleted, if applicable.
  • Saved games will follow GeForce NOW’s Retention Policy.
  • Your billing information will remain saved to your NVIDIA account but can no longer be used for GeForce NOW purchases. To update or remove saved billing information, please contact NVIDIA Customer Care.

Note that your NVIDIA account will remain active for other services, such as the NVIDIA App and NVIDIA Forums. You can continue to access and manage account settings, including Privacy, Communications, and Security.

If you believe this is an error, please contact NVIDIA Customer Care for assistance.

Q: Why is GeForce NOW banning accounts?

A: We’re taking steps to protect the experience for everyone on GeForce NOW. This includes addressing clear violations of GeForce NOW Terms of Use to help ensure our servers are safe and secure for all users and to maximize available capacity.

Q: Are you doing this because publishers have requested it?

A. These account bans are specifically related to clear GeForce NOW Terms of Use violations.

Q: What kind of behaviour actually leads to a ban?

A: Clear violations of GeForce NOW Terms of Use. Accounts go through a review process to ensure accuracy first and users that believe it’s an error can contact NVIDIA Customer Care for assistance.

Q: Is this automated or could people get banned by mistake?

A: All bans are reviewed, and decisions are made carefully to ensure only clear and serious violations result in action.

Q: What if someone says they were banned unfairly?

A: If a user believes their ban is a mistake, they can contact NVIDIA customer care for assistance.

Q: What will banned users actually see?

A: When attempting to log in, users will see a message that their account is disabled due to a Terms of Use violation and be directed to a help article for more details.

Q: What happens to their account and data?

A: When a user’s account is banned, the following things will happen:

  • You will no longer be able to use GeForce NOW with this NVIDIA account.
  • Your GeForce NOW premium membership will be canceled, including any add-ons like Persistent Cloud Storage, if applicable.
  • Their NVIDIA account still exists (for forums, apps, etc.)

Q: What happens to their payment methods or subscription?

A: The GeForce NOW membership will be canceled as part of the ban, and payments already processed will not be refunded.

Q: Can shared networks (like households or cafes) cause accidental bans?

A: No. Bans are based on account behavior. However, if you share your account with someone and they violate the GeForce NOW Terms of Use, your account will be banned.

Q: Can I get banned for using a VPN?

A: Bans are not based on connection methods. They’re based on account behavior and clear violations of the GeForce NOW Terms of Use.

Q: Can I get banned for something I did a long time ago?

A: Bans are focused on recent account behavior and clear violations, not going far back into past activity. In general, actions are based on patterns identified within the last 30 days, especially if there are repeated violations.

Q: Does this apply to all games or only certain publishers?

A: This applies to usage of the GeForce NOW service overall, not a particular publisher, game or set of games.

Q: Will users get a warning before being banned?

A: No. Users can be informed of what violates the GeForce NOW Terms of use, by reviewing Section 3 Limitations.

Q: How is this different from anti-cheat systems in games?

A: This is a platform-based enforcement system that focuses on how the service itself is being used.

______

Whether you’re brand new to cloud gaming, trying it again since GeForce NOW’s beta, looking for another service, or just looking for another way to play — GeForce NOW can empower you to play your way.

Some people use it as their main gaming setup.

Some use it to extend older hardware.

Others just want a quick way to jump into games without downloads.

However you choose to play, the goal is simple: make gaming more accessible and flexible.

If you’re curious, try it with a game you already own and see how it feels.
