Changed itinerary three times, this is what we have settled on...

We originally were supposed to go to Genoa this week, but ended up pushing our trip two weeks, so it starts on August 30th and ends on September 4th.

We were going to do five days in Genoa, take a train to Milan on September 4th, and then go explore Lake Como and head out in that area, but much to our surprise, it is Formula One race weekend. Our hotel has over doubled in price, so we decided to go from Genoa to Verona and stay there for that period of time instead.

We still have a flight leaving Milan at the LIN airport very early on September 9, but we decided to take a train from Genoa to Verona and stay for September 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8, and head back to Milan for one quick night right by the airport. We'll be in position for our super early flight.

We are pretty well researched in what we would like to do in the Genoa/Ligurian coast area, but does anybody have any must-see or must-do recommendations for Verona? We definitely want to hit up Lake Garda and I feel obligated to do a day trip to Venice since it's only a 30- to 45-minute train ride away and, at the very least, walk around (never been), but what else are some hidden gems within an hour from the city? Any recommended restaurants or cool experiences?

It looks like we made a good decision, as I see there's a ton of bad weather in the area for the next 10 to 14 days. It looks like the pressure system has broken up the heat wave, so Hopefully everything will clear up by the time we get there and the temps won't be pushing record highs and instead will just be kind of hot.

Thank you all so much!

Scammy Asian fashion and clothing websites?

I have been looking everywhere for an unlined linen sport coat of sorts, but the only place I can consistently find these is on these extremely sketchy-looking men's fashion websites. I have ordered a couple of jackets and received only one time out of three the thing that I actually ordered. When it comes to returns, it is a nightmare, and they always offer me half my money back instead of returning.

Does anyone have any recommendations of legitimate brands that would have an unlined linen sport coat? Has anybody else run into this issue? I've posted some screenshots of these websites.

Milan as base for part of our trip - Aug 24-27. Lake como or lake garda?

I understand that it's going to be super hot and everything I have since read says don't go to milan in august. Well, there's no changing it, so let's make the best of it! We're going to be coming from Cinque Terra/Genoa and will arrive in the afternoon on the 24th to Milan, So that leaves the 25th, 26th, and 27th open.

We can take one, maybe 2 day trips, but we still want to spend at least one day checking out Milan. What's your opinion?

A) Lake Como (would love to see Orrido di Nesso)

B) Lake Garda (Sirmione seems like the man destination, but is there somewhere else noteworthy?

C) A 3rd option I'm not even considering

Transport: *We love exploring and driving around in a car so we can get off the beaten path , but are wary of parking being an issue*

D)Train or car to get there from milan?

C)Hire a boat for a tour or ferry hop?

We already are kicking ourselves for when we scheduled the trip, but what's done is done. I appreciate your advice and guidance. Thanks!

Am I the only one who finds this hilarious at the Austin airport?

Does anyone read this out as ANAL LOGIC every time they see it at the Austin airport? Just me? I can’t be the only one 😆

5 nights genoa, 4 nights Milan

August 18-24 in Genoa, and August 24-28 in Milan.

I am pretty overwhelmed by all the things there are to do and always get in over my head when I start reading about people’s bad experiences and feeling unsafe in certain cities in Italy. We went to Naples a couple years ago - crazy and busy, but we loved it.

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions as to what to do and what not to do? I know it’s a very broad general question, but I am just trying to get a feel for what areas to avoid, what cities in towns just outside of Genoa and Milan are worth visiting, etc.

I appreciate you all!
