it’s currently week 3 of the semester and i’m seriously burnt out. i was supposed to get into fass, but i was unfortunately thrown into nus ise cus i didnt meet the cut off point.
coming from poly, i’m currently in year 1 and was able to cope for the first week or so, until the pace became too fast. having only an o-level background in elective physics and surface-level additional mathematics (which i scored c6), i’m starting to feel really left behind compared to my peers. concepts that they can understand within seconds can take me hours to absorb. tutorial questions have become impossible for me to solve unless i have close guidance from ai or by religiously watching lectures and videos from the organic chemistry tutor on youtube, which takes me several hours. i’ve tried different study methods like the pomodoro technique, but they haven't worked well for me.
this has led to another problem: neglecting other essential modules like cs1010e. i tried my best to manage my time by allocating 3-4 hours onto my weaker modules like pc1201, but sometimes, i tend to forget that other modules are also as important, since i need more time to process information. my goal is to at least score a B- to B average for all my modules at this point 😕
right now, i’m contemplating applying for an internal transfer to another fass course since i have stronger interest in that field rather than ISE, though i highly doubt it's possible.
at this point, does anyone have success stories of braving through nus cde with barely any physics or amath background? also, does anyone have alternative study method suggestions? 😢🙏🏼 i need a strong motivation right now to get my momentum back 😔😔😔
hello! i'm a year 1 freshie majoring in industrial and systems engineering and i'm currently looking forward to expand connections and making new friends along the way!
due to NS and other impt commitments, i was unfortunately unable to attend orientation at all, so i am currently feeling slightly lost. i'm hoping to use this platform to connect with fellow likeminded ISE undergrad or even CDE undergrad taking the same common core as me :)
feel free to dm me if you're in the same boat or down to study together!
so basically, ive been granted 38mc of exemption coming from a poly background, which allows me to graduate with only 122mc within 3 years.
however, ive also read up on the nus website saying that the workload must be 160mc to qualify for honours. the degrees that only have 120 units are only qualified to get pass or pass with merit.
with this in mind, does that mean that poly exempted graduates are only allowed to graduate with pass/pass with merit? i am confused by how this works 🥲
edit: i am pursuing nus engineering, which is why i got 38mc
okay so basically, round 1 results have already been released. i managed to bid for 3/4 of the modules in edurec after round 1, and that one mod i failed to secure is ES1103. i’m a bit confused considering that i’ve also reserved classes for ES1103 but for different venues (all at the same timing).
can anyone enlighten me on whether i am able to bid for this same mod again for the same timing in round 2, or whether i need to bid for another timeslot?
many thanks 😢
