Is the SG Junior my holy grail?

So I have always loved the SG. Had an Epiphone SG for years and years and years (20 years?), but it wasn't ever great. It was from the "low quality" Epiphone era, and it was what I could afford at the time.

When I retired I decided to give myself a treat and I bought a brand new 2024 Gibson SG in this gorgeous silver-to-black finish.

And I play it ... but not much. I don't feel any personality from it. All my other guitars have been used and have some mojo to them from their history. The shiny new SG though just kinda leaves me flat.

Another aspect of my annoyance with the SG is all the knobs I never use. I pretty much just leave them all wide open all the time.

So I started wondering if an SG Junior is what I am looking for ... simple electronics that I'd probably vibe more with, and an older model will be worn in and feel more "lived in" than a new one ...

But I see so few of them for sale, and none really near me that I can just try out.

What is your take on the SG Junior, both pro and con? What questions am I not asking, or other considerations am I forgetting?

(I know many old SGs often have had the headstock broken off and repaired, so I am a little leery of buying a guitar that was last mass produced in 1971. But I am sure I can find one that was well repaired or undamaged to begin with. Or maybe a later reissue?)

Low volume label printer?

eBay is a fun side thing for me, but I’m tired of going to Staples to print my labels and then taping them to the package.

There’s a gabillion label printers out there, but what are people using here in this sub?

I’m on a Mac and would only want/use a label printer, and it would only be turned on when printing, maybe 10x/month.

Anyone got one they love and would recommend?

UPDATE: Thanks for the help everyone! I ordered a simple bluetooth/USB model from Amazon, and it'll arrive tomorrow. I appreciate the help!

Futura RD is on its way!

I’ve never bought a guitar sight unseen. I always tell friends, play it, hold it in your hands, and if it speaks to you, buy it.

But being unable to find any inventory anywhere, I went ahead and put my name on the list on the web site to be notified when they are available.

Did that yesterday.

Got my notification this morning and ordered it.

Says it’ll be here by the weekend.

So … sold out? Or a marketing scheme to make them seem scarce?

UPDATE: FedEx just told me my guitar - that was back ordered yesterday, that I ordered this morning - will arrive tomorrow.

Sadly the show last night was canceled just before Die Spitz went on stage, due to Kate having a seizure. Medics came and checked her out and said she was ok, but she wasn’t up to performing.

HUGE props to STG Group for announcing the make-up show TODAY, for Sunday, May 17. Amazing speed. Props to them for getting this info out so fast, and to the band for being able to get back so soon.

Also, the opening band, Rocket, was great. Very tight. Big sound. And I got to talk to them at the merch booth after and they are really cool people, too.

Maybe they can come back for the May show…?
