rescue help!

Grabbed from a friend while I was helping her move to see if I can save. I was going to propagate but I just learned that calatheas have to be propped by root division? At this state, would it even be possible to save, or try to propagate the few remaining good leaves? I'm very new to this level of plant care and knowledge so I'm looking for any help or advice!

my plant shrunk and now won't grow!?

This is one of the first two plants I ever bought! I've only recently started collecting them so I'm still experiencing and learning :) So, I'm not really sure what went wrong here. The second picture is when I first got it. I usually snip off any parts of leaves starting to brown or if I see a dying leaf I'll take it off, but other than that I don't really do much other than routine watering. it's been stuck like this (1st pic) for a while now and I want it to look like its old self again!

It is indoors and gets hours of indirect light daily. I could definitely make more light come through if needed (it's not super bright but it is consistent). I also have spaces with direct light if it needed.

The soil and potting mix is the original that it came in, but I have rosy soil houseplant and better gro special orchid potting mix at home if i should change it!
