does anyone have any exercises/advice for applying counterpoint to standards? what i recorded here is a very rudimentary take on trying to apply it to my playing but i’m unsure how to get it more smooth, exciting, etc.
i can appreciate it doesn’t swing and frankly i’m likely doing the whole thing wrong. i’d really like to get a little of the sound i hear in “the shearing piano” but it’s difficult for me to figure out. thanks.
