Introducing Whole Milk to 12 Month Old

Can I get some feedback on introducing whole milk to my 12-month-old to gauge if this experience is normal or if there is a suspected allergy/intolerance?

When my son was an infant, he was suspected CMPA, although we didn't go through any blood testing. I cut out dairy completely from my diet, and he did well. I followed the dairy ladder for reintroduction, and he also did well. Our last step was introducing whole milk, which we've done this week.

He has been getting 5-6 oz of whole milk a day mixed in with 10oz of breastmilk in his bottles. He is also nursing 1-2 times per day, getting an additional estimated 5-10 oz total, for roughly 20-30 oz of milk. He also eats 3 meals and has 1-2 snacks a day.

Since introducing the whole milk, he's been quite a bit more fussy, only finding comfort being held or drinking/eating during the day, and is struggling at nighttime with frequent wakings, being uncomfortable, and being awake from 1-2:30 am. He has been pooping 4+ times per day, and it's been looser stools and not as digested. This has also caused a bit of reddness/diaper rash.

I haven't noticed increased gas, a distended stomach, or blood in his stool.

He wakes up at 6:00 am, has two naps (9-10:30 am and 1:30-3:00 pm), and goes to bed at 7:30 pm.

My milk supply and freezer stash are going down. I need to supplement my breastmilk with some form of milk.

I find it hard to believe that all of these symptoms are from a regression/teething/sickness since they just started when introducing whole milk.

Has anyone else had a velcro baby that can’t sleep independently?

My 6 month old has slept through the night ONCE which was the day before his tongue and lip tie revision. He also has CMPA and is on breastmilk exclusively.

Because of this, he was held pretty much my entire maternity leave. For the past 3 months now he’s been waking around 6 times per night. He will only sleep independently for 30-40 minutes then we cosleep so I can at least sleep for a chunk of time. I’m getting between 4-5 broken hours of sleep a night. I am tired. We also have 2 other kids but they are great sleepers.

Every time I try to let him cry and self soothe he just screams and it sounds like his “I’m in pain” scream that still haunts me from when I was on mat leave and before we figured out he had dairy issues.

I’ve tried so many sleep sacks- dreamland, zip a dee, magic merlin suit, kyte, etc.

What do I do to get sleep? Where do we go from here? He has shaken my confidence as a mother so much.
