Frizz galore, and I love it

Since I stopped straightening my hair (a good 10 years ago), I've been trying to work out how to care for it. I've spent way too much time trying to tame it to look like the perfect curls I see in social media, from girls with a completely different hair type from mine. It was only about 3-4 years ago that I truly fell in love with my afro.

I know it's not perfectly defined, I know it's frizzy as, and I kinda love exactly for that. My hair victory it finally loving this does-whatever-it-wants hair.

Idk if that post actually counts, but I wanted to share my journey.

Routine:

- I wash every other day, it's hot, I go to the gym, I cannot have a sweaty scalp, it gets ichy. I use a mask every wash, unless I'm in a super hurry, then just conditioner (briogeo curl charisma)

- shampoo: Briogeo Curl Charisma. Every 2 weeks, Olaplex 4C Clarifying Shampoo

- masks: I rotate between Minimalist 5% maleic acid, Widi Care PhytoManga and Ceremonia Guava

- oils: Lola Pinga Açaí e Pracaxi most of the time, Virtue labs healing oil every so often

- leave in: Lola blessed Beach or AS I AM JBCO for natural fluffy, Briogeo Curl Charisma on the rare occasions I want a bit more definition

- hair pick by me at all times

- sleep in satin bonnet

Re-read God of Vengeance by Michelle Heard, and fell in love all over again

So I've been DNFing way too many mafia books lately, so I decided to go back to my favourites to try and see what is it that I'm craving. And did I find out!

God of Vengeance is by far my favourite of the series, here's why:

  • good setting, background, mafia business, that makes me worry/care about the MMC instead of being left feeling that he could just be the main character of a billionaire CEO story and wouldn't matter;
  • MMC is terrifying and imposes fear, and it's shown in the story. Way too often I find that I read about him saying that he's bad, but can't really see any proof of it;
  • he LOVES her, in that delicious possessive way, but doesn't immediately go into love-sick puppy mode. It's delicious to see him slowly loosing control when it comes to her
  • very very well written FMC, strong but vulnerable. Zero "not like the other girls" vibe. 10/10;
  • good dark romance spice;
  • actual angst, not just conflicts that could be solved by a simple conversation, which brings us to
  • THEY ACTUALLY TALK TO EACH OTHER

It's definitely my favourite of the series. I need to read other stuff from this author.

Now here I go, back go endless search for new favourites 😂😭
