[PC][2000-2006] Looking for an obscure medieval RTS from my childhood 😭

Platform(s): PC Windows
Genre: RTS / Base Building
Estimated year of release: Probably between 1998–2006 (played around 2006–2011).
Graphics/art style: Isometric view. Dark, gloomy medieval forest atmosphere. Not colorful or cartoonish. The graphics felt smooth/pre-rendered rather than flashy 3D.
Notable gameplay mechanics: Started with almost nothing. Gathered wood, stone, and gold using workers. Built houses and defensive structures (possibly wooden archer towers). There was fog of war, and I remember exploring the dark map being scary as a child. I rarely attacked and usually stayed in my base until the AI attacked me.
I also remember ambient forest sounds (especially birds), and when ordering workers to chop trees there was a distinct axe-chopping sound. I vaguely remember small boats/rafts that could move units across water.
The game was in English, had save/load, and was not fantasy (no orcs, elves, magic), not sci-fi, not World War, and almost certainly not Roman-themed.
I played it on a Toshiba laptop around 2006–2011.

The closest visual atmosphere I’ve seen so far is Highland Warriors, but it’s definitely NOT Highland Warriors.
