Hi everyone,
I’m currently trying to decide between Accessory Design (AD) and Fashion Communication (FC) at NIFT, and I’m honestly feeling quite confused.
A little background: I originally wanted to pursue Product Design through NID, but I wasn’t able to get in. Now I’m looking at NIFT and trying to make the most informed decision possible. My category rank is 163, so I’m trying to understand which campuses and courses would make the most sense before counselling.

From what I’ve researched so far, Accessory Design seems interesting because it appears to have a wide range of career paths after graduation. I’ve seen people mention graduates moving into accessories, lifestyle products, product development, retail, branding, entrepreneurship, and even fields beyond traditional fashion. This flexibility is one of the reasons AD attracts me.

At the same time, FC also interests me, but I’m worried about its long-term future. With AI becoming increasingly capable of creating graphics, content, and visual assets, I’m wondering whether Fashion Communication will remain a strong and future-proof field. I could be completely wrong here, which is exactly why I’m asking for opinions from people with actual experience.
Some questions I have:

What is the AD curriculum actually like across the 4 years? What do students spend most of their time doing?

What are AD graduates doing 5–10 years after graduating?

If my original interest was Product Design, would AD be the closest option within NIFT?
Which campus would you recommend for AD: Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, or another campus? I’ve heard Bengaluru has a stronger product-design ecosystem, but I’m not sure how accurate that is.
Is FC still a solid career choice in 2026, especially considering the impact of AI on creative industries?
If you had the choice today between AD and FC, which would you choose and why?
Is there anything about either course that students only realize after joining?
I’m genuinely open to changing my mind and would really appreciate honest opinions from current students, alumni, or anyone familiar with these programs.

hi, i am just about to lock in my preferences and i was really confused about what each campus teaches.

ive read here and there that BLR is a better campus for AD and im really confused if it actually is, if youre a senior or if you have talked to any senior from any campus about AD please let us know what u came across and what u observed, or any insight would be helpful. thank you!!
