Megazig question? How do you deal with angel levels?
This character was a particularly beafy beafcake but on my 6th or 7th zig this level destroyed me. It felt like had no real tools. I was using Polar Vortex to try and do damage and healing every turn to stay alive. Eventually I got low and didn't make it into the abyss.
Added a screenshot of my character, mostly so it lives on because I miss it already.
Cleared 9 zigs before reaching my death. What could I have done better here?
I was cruising through zigs pretty effectively. Using old Gozag strats, not the new Haemoclasm way. And then I got this floor on the 10th zig. I didn't think much of it at first, just another throw silver javelins at silent spectres until they die level, but then I got blinded so I couldn't kill the spectres anymore and it disintegrated fast.
RIP:
You have visited 18 branches of the dungeon, and seen 86 of its levels. You have visited Pandemonium 15 times, and seen 204 of its levels. You have visited the Abyss 7 times. You have visited the chambers of the Necropolis 1 time. You have visited 11 ziggurats (completing 9), and seen 276 of their levels. You have also visited: Bailey, Gauntlet, Ice Cave and Wizlab.
How to deal with mega-zig mummy levels?
Historically I've just blasted these rooms with ignition. Most things die and what is left over fights amongst itself because of my orb of mayhem. While they are occupied I heal up with gozag potions and then run in and do it again. But this time, I'm only one standard deviation away from the combined smites killing me.
So what is the factory recommended technique of resolving this? Some thoughts I had:
- Use shatter. It'll kill some things, and hopefully trigger mayhem
- Firestorm, a slightly more chaotic version of #1
- Tremorstone, a less effective and more chaotic version of #1 and 2
- Fog and then kill things next to me (this scares me because I'm worried about getting overwhelmed over time)
Appreciate the help!
Mega-Zig qq: How to deal with traps?
Just completed my fourth zig and the zot traps are a thing. Getting sapped of mana, contaminated, and dispersed in between actions is brutal. This prompted me to post the analysis that shows that by the 9th zig every other floor is going to be a traps floor.
Is there any strategy for managing these more than just trying to funnel monsters away from them and doing the majority of the fighting with them out of LOS?
Likelihood that a zig level contains traps based on zigs completed
Following up on my previous post about the zig difficulty curve, here is are some charts showing the prevalence of traps as you complete zigs. I did this because I was finding the trap levels pretty challenging since I am suddenly contaminated, blinked, and sapped of mana. Knowing that it caps out at 9 is a small consolation.
How Ziggurat difficulty scales as you complete them
Recently I've been fascinated with mega zigs. After completing a few with my current character I decided to look into the source and see how the difficulty scales. I kind of wish I hadn't! Using the hd_pool as a proxy for total difficulty (which I think is sound), the final zig is more than 70x harder than the initial one.
