Issue with FireWiring footage to my Mac
I’ve got so much beautiful footage on my Sony Handycam DCR-HC85e on a tape that I’m really proud of and I’m trying to transfer it to my Mac (2025 MacBook Pro), and I’ve got a daisy chain of a fire wire adaptor, thunderbolt 2 and then thunderbolt 3 plugged into my camcorder and my mac respectively. When I first plugged it all in my Mac came up with a notification about connecting a FireWire device which I thought was a good sign, and clicked allow, hoping that if I were to go on Finder I’d see it connected and therefore be able to import my footage through iMovie etc. however my camcorder isn’t listed as a connected device even when it’s properly plugged in, and I’ve also been having so many problems with playback on my camcorder to the point where when I go to Play/Edit it’s like I haven’t even recorded anything on that tape when it’s literally full of content. Im feeling so disheartened because I was so proud of what I had accomplished and the amount of money I had spent on the camera, tapes, cables and discontinued adaptors only to have it not work has taken a big toll. If anyone bas any advice on how I can resolve this and import the footage I recorded then I’d appreciate it so so so much, some once in a lifetime shots are on that tape and I’ll be damned if I lose them
