Second HD - raid or extra

I set up my Jellyfin NAS just as hard drives sold out, so until now I’ve been using only a single drive (4TB). I recently was able to get a second one at a reasonable-ish price but when I put it in the NAS I accidentally configured it for a raid array. I’ve already copied all my movies and shows to the drive, and it’s at about 3.5T usage.

Should I backup&delete the storage volume and start over with two drives worth of storage or is the redundancy from the raid better even though I only have one drive worth of storage space (until I can get a third, that is)?

Will these game mechanics work together

I’m in an early stage of planning my game and trying to build a vision that I can develop towards to avoid scope creep and constant rework (I keep telling myself “first make it real then make it good”).

In general, the game will be 3d but with an isometric camera. I chose this because I want to evoke some nostalgia for early 3D games. However, the setting practically necessitates gunplay, which is tough to do in isometric if it’s not an rpg.

Here’s what I’m thinking: walking around is iso but once combat begins, the camera “swoops” down and the state changes to more of a 3rd person cover shooter (e.g. Star Wars Rebel Assault, or Time Crisis as a first person example). Once combat completes, the camera swoops back to its normal position and the game continues.

My question: will this be too jarring and I should drop one or both approaches, perhaps in favor of a standard 3rd person shooter style (I wanted to avoid that because I don’t want it to play as a shooting game, I want it to be a game with shooting and a 3rd person shooter would predispose the player to expect that kind of gameplay.

Thoughts?

High performance phone options

It’s not time to upgrade my phone yet but I am trying to come up with a plan. I want to get out of the Apple/Google ecosystems and Ubuntu touch seems like a good open source avenue for that (currently switching my pcs away from Windows to Linux for similar reasons). The problem I’m facing is that all of the supported devices are much less performant than my current phone.

I have an iPhone 16 pro. Since it’s iPhone, porting it myself isn’t an option.

Even if I run this phone into the ground, the currently supported devices seem years behind current gen devices on the market, and I’m not sure they would catch up by then (and I get it: it’s a volunteer job and no one wants to risk their new and expensive phone to experiment so they port it to an old one, I’m not complaining or ungrateful for the work being done)

So do I wait and see if anything catches up before Apple software updates my phone into obsolescence? Is there a brand that is consistent enough that even though the current models aren’t officially supported it’d probably be pretty straightforward to port? Is there something on the list of supported devices that is comparable and I missed? Or do I just need to give up on the idea entirely?

Thanks!

Edit: also I’m in the US which makes getting a lot of the more supported devices (Volla/fairphone) difficult
