This evening I've sat with my massive crate of old CD's and I've been ripping them, and where the metadata hasn't pulled through, dopped then into MP3tag; completing any missed spots

However, I've noticed on Jellyfin, when refreshing the data, that some albums haven't carried over even the most basic of metadata info (year of release, genre etc), which others have brought over oodles of info. Even going so far as to give a blurb on the album.

However, I'm unsure who metadata service this has come from. I know of Discogs and Musicbrainz.

Which should I be telling my future ripping to look at, so I get all the information needed, and don't have to go back in and fill the fields again?

I’ve been coming across so many jellyfin clients that it’s getting tiring, as all of you are. The basis is always the same : MPV, libVLC, ExoPlayer, so why bother if the result is the same?
Which is why on the other hand I’ve been so intrigued by vibe-coded clients for legacy platforms that get no love and might genuinely get some “cause I can” client that might really be cool. After all, installing into an old device (especially a gaming console) a homebrew jellyfin app might get you back into the games of your childhood.
So I thought: If you want to do it - go all the way, port it to the ps1, the vita, invent a way ti make it work on the gamecube, on solaris os, on powerpc mac os, but make it worthwhile.
We could even compile a list of “jellyfin clients for obscure and legacy devices”, would be cool.

I was thinking about adding some random YouTube videos I enjoy a lot but I’m not sure. Also I don’t know if there are other options than what I listed and want to know the possibilities that are available to me to take advantage of.

Hello, to be brief, i have my instance of jellyfin running on a machine in my house.I have it setup with cloudflare tunnel and zerotrust. I want to give my girlfriend access to my jellyfin on her tv, but when i put in my jellyfin url (i have a domain), it doesn’t get picked up. it works fine on her PC and on my phone.

I read that zerotrust doesn’t work with jellyfin roku app, and i read around that the best way to give other people access is to set up tailscale on their wifi system or whatever. i’d rather not, to keep things simple for my user. any one have any ideas or advice they could give me for this situation?

I made the switch to jellyfin today. Spent 4 hours installing on my HTPC and seemed to go well. I added to plugins and restarted the desktop app. Now it won't accept my log in info. Says either id or password is incorrect. Used the same credentials all morning without problems. I tried forgot password, the .json file never shows up with the code. Any ideas on my options are? It's a windows 11 pro computer.

The upgrade post for 12.0 says you need 10.10.7 -- which is not available anymore on the Jellyfin site, and there's no package for it in the GitHub repo that I can find.

I looked for the upgrade path for 10.11, and once again it says you need 10.10.7 before upgrading.

So what am I supposed to do here?

I set up my Jellyfin NAS just as hard drives sold out, so until now I’ve been using only a single drive (4TB). I recently was able to get a second one at a reasonable-ish price but when I put it in the NAS I accidentally configured it for a raid array. I’ve already copied all my movies and shows to the drive, and it’s at about 3.5T usage.

Should I backup&delete the storage volume and start over with two drives worth of storage or is the redundancy from the raid better even though I only have one drive worth of storage space (until I can get a third, that is)?

so i just bought a NVidia shield pro for 210 from bestbuy and it comes on the 8th but i also just had a family member give me a roku ultra from 2020 so its not the newest ultra but the one before it is it worth using the roku ultra or should i use the shield when it comes i mainly wanna do jellyfin and plax and watch tv on on it along with some streaming apps here and there but mostly use it for my nas

I'm trying to organize an anime show -- the directory is full of subdirectories titled like Season 01, Season 02, Season 03, and the files are named exactly like S01E01.mkv, S01E02.mkv, S02E01.mkv etc -- with no other junk in the filenames. TMDB was being dumb about recognizing the show and episodes so I prefer my own custom numbering. Everything is named correctly and organized correctly.

I've tried deleting metadata multiple times but pulling up some seasons will show the episodes out of order, eg Season 3 lists its episodes in the order

• s03e05, s03e06, s03e07,
• s03e01, s03e02,
• s03e04, s03e03,
• s03e10, s03e11, s03e09 ...

which is completely wrong and makes zero sense.

No clue how to fix this. I just want Jellyfin to treat the subdirectories titled as "Season 01" as seasons of the show and list the episodes in filename order, eg s01e01 is the first episode of season 1, s01e02 is the second episode of season 1, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

So last night after years of frustration with Plex I decided to try Jellyfin, so I installed it on my Synology DS423+ NAS, set the library up and it worked without issue. This morning however, if I try to access it via any app, either I get "server unavailable", or it spends forever trying to load without getting anywhere. If I try to open up Jellyfin via my browser, it takes several minutes to even open the web page, and when it opens every library action is extremely laggy and the libraries whilst present, will mostly not load at all (spinning blue wheel for infinity). Sometimes it won't even open at all and I get a "server unavailable" error, even though my NAS is online the whole time. Any help?

(Please note that I am a bit of a networking noob, so please have patience!)
