What app is everyone using for downloading content for offline viewing? Specifically for iPadOS 17. I’ve tried the Jellyfin app. No luck even downloading the content. I’ve tried Phyn, and even after successfully downloading the content I had to pay for the premium subscription to watch the downloaded content. Once the iPad is offline though, the content won’t play. I’m open to any and all suggestions. Hitting the road home tomorrow for 8+ hours and the kids need their movies.

I’m considering using a RK3588 as a little server with transcoding capabilities, and I see Jellyfin supports using the RKMPP (Rockchip Multi Media Processing) so the VPU is used for HW Acceleration.

Problem is, the RKMPP is proprietary and linked to using the vendor BSP kernel, which currently sits in the ancient 6.1.115 version (2022-2023), and who knows if they will even update the version or ship CVEs patches.

Collabora and other parties have been working hard to get this chip capabilities working in the Linux mainline kernel, and recently that includes H264/H265 decoding with V4L2. It still lacks encoding, which must be use software. Still, they are working hard to get full support.

My question is, would Jellyfin support using this, so you can do HW accelerated transcoding, even if it’s just decoding for the moment, with V4L2 in mainline kernel? Or will this be a no-no for a long time?

I'm using Plex now but i would like to try Jellyfin. As i made a lot of changes with posters i would like to import them from Plex to Jellyfin, is it possible ?

I just added Seaquest DSV which has an unusual quirk - according to TVDB, episode 1 is listed as 1x01 (part 1) and 1x01 (part 2), followed by ep 1x02, for a total of 23 episodes, but 24 separate files. I've never seen this before in any other show, and Jellyfin seems to be struggling with it too.

TMDB uses the production/DVD order which contains wildly different episodes, and has the pilot episode listed 1x01 and 1x02 with the next ep being 1x03. Because the episodes are so different, I'm planning to stick with the TVDB version - but I can't figure out how I can make Jellyfin behave properly with it?

Currently it's displaying (part 1) twice with identical image and everything, including both being listed as 1. (ie the first episode), then (part 2) is listed as 2. Any ideas on how to either get it to display 1. (part 1) and then 1. (part 2) or renumber them or something else?

Could someone explain how to correctly organise films that won't stay where I think they should be?

For example, the 10 Fast and Furious films.

8 of them are placed into the F&F Collection, the other 2 go into the F&F Franchise.

I've manually updated the 2 films so they're all in the collection and deleted the franchise group, but when the plugin fires it just moves them back

Is there a way to turn off either franchise or collection options? I don't really mind what the group is called, as long as they're not split up!

I’ve used handbrake a handful of times to compress ripped DVDs. Settings pulled of ChatGPT with alterations roughly halving the file size (e.g. 5gb down to 2.5gb)

When viewing the compressed file I can see the quality drop some blur and pixels and it annoys me.

Wondering if this is the trade off or if there is a better way, maybe a different compression tool

Any tips would be appreciated

I've been scared to update my JF from 10.10.7 for quite a while. I did try several months ago but I had an error (more than likely my fault) and had to revert back to 10.10.7. When 10.11.xx came out I was reading so many people having issues that I thought to my self, "This works just fine the way it is. I dont really need to update." So I didn't.

I finally decided to go ahead try try again last night and it took like 2-4 minutes and everything went smooth as silk. I dont know why I waited so long really but now I'm all caught up and ready for JF 12. Thank you devs for all your hard work. I appreciate you all!!

I was wondering if there is a plugin that automatically shows subtitles for scenes that are in a different language. I'm currently watching a show where some scenes are in Spanish and I always have to rewind, turn on subtitles, wait for it to load, watch the scene, turn subtitles off, and wait for it to load again.

Is there a plugin that just enables them for scenes like these? I appreciate your help

If so how can I improve my connectivity on data? Say I want to watch something while waiting in a car. I know I can download videos but say I am waiting for someone in a parking lot and wanna pop out an episode.

I am curious as to if I can get jellyfin to have my books and music on there

I keep changing the poster to movies and collections and they keep changing back. I have checked the box that says to lock this item to prevent changes but it still goes back to the default. Any idea?

I've seen people talk about it before but is there any good guides on how to?

i've added a few movies to my server but jellyfin doesn't seem to be able to identify them. The Movies are all correctly named (The Title (year).format) each in its own folder with the same name and year. Normally not an issue and i just identify it with IMDB ID or TMDB ID but when i try this, with both imdb and tmdb, the server cannot seem to find anything.

Is this a known bug, as ive seen a blog post, which had been closed, describing this issue?

Or is it a internal error from my part?

I am trying to group the anime from the Monogatari series into one folder in Jellyfin and failing. The watch order for this show is brutal, but I finally put it together and that is why it would be helpful to have all the media in one folder.

My Jellyfin server is v10.11.2 on Windows 11 25H2 with a portable install. I have four libraries visible from the home page: Anime Shows, Anime Movies, Movies, Shows. The Monogatari series is currently made up of 15 shows and 3 movies. What I don't want is all the shows dumped in my Anime Shows library at random, mixed in with my other shows. I also don't want the movies separate from the shows for watch order organizational reasons. What I do want, is one folder in Anime Shows called Monogatari Series. In it, will be all the shows and movies. I can then tweak things to order them correctly. Even if I don't succeed in ordering them right, I would like them in this one folder.

I tried creating a folder called Monogatari Series on the hard drive inside my Anime Shows library folder. I dumped all the media into that folder. Jellyfin simply ignored it and displayed the shows separate anyhow, as if I never did anything. My next attempt was to create a Collection. That was a whole nightmare in itself which I just backed out of (made a post about it). Collections puts a big link on your home page which I did not want.

Someone has had to have dealt with this before? I wish there was simply a way to make groups or nested libraries. I would make Monogatari a separate library if I could nest it inside Anime Shows, but I don't want it right on the home page, which is the only place new libraries go. Any help appreciated, thank you.

I have noticed that when I use the site for a long time (Watching something). When I come back to the main page it slows down or lags and I have to fix it with a refresh. What is going on here? And is there a permanent fix?
