What's there to be pessimistic about?

The sheikh behind Manchester City keeps investing. They might not dominate the league the way they did under Guardiola, but they're hardly going to sink like their neighbours. Before Guardiola, City had already won several Premier League titles and reached the Champions League semi-finals.

Who will miss this World Cup?

One underrated part of every World Cup cycle is realizing how many great players quietly miss out entirely. Injuries, failed qualifiers, ageing squads, bad timing, it happens every tournament.

By 2026, we’ll probably see a painful list again. Some veterans simply won’t make the final squad anymore, some nations won’t qualify, and a few stars will get unlucky right before the tournament. That’s football. Four years feels short until you realize careers can collapse in six months.

People always talk about who will shine at the World Cup, but the stories that stick with me are the players who never get that final dance. Think about all the legends who left the game without one last tournament run.

2026 will create new heroes, sure. But it’ll also quietly close the chapter on an entire generation.

So who do you think will miss this World Cup?

manuel neuer new contract done deal

Bayern really said “one more year” to the old man, and honestly, I kind of get it.

At 40, most keepers are long retired or doing punditry somewhere, but Bayern still seems to trust the veteran more than anyone else in the room. Ulreich has clearly declined physically, and after spending basically a decade being the ultimate backup keeper, it genuinely feels like we’re watching the final chapter of his career unfold in real time.

As for Urbig, the talent is there, but throwing a young keeper straight into Bayern’s goal is a completely different level of pressure. Replacing Neuer’s era was never going to be easy for anyone. Feels like Bayern looked at the situation and decided that one more short-term deal with the old guard was the safest option.

Maybe he’s not the same keeper anymore, but experience still matters when you’re playing for a club where every mistake becomes a headline within five minutes.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up being a quiet farewell season for a guy who spent years doing the thankless work behind the scenes.

Real Madrid:Best striker ✅ Best winger ✅ Best midfielder✅Best defender ✅ Best fighter ✅ But… Best loser ✅

Let’s be real, Real Madrid’s captaincy system is pretty useless.

It forces the role onto players who just aren’t cut out for leadership. Some people are simply not born to lead. Competitive sports need captains who have both leadership skills and elite on pitch quality to steer the team. That way, you avoid a lot of unnecessary drama.

This defense feels almost impenetrable. The midfield's ball-winning ability, the center-backs' man-marking, plus a world-class goalkeeper.

Whoever can blow this Arsenal team apart, whether it's PSG's or Bayern's frontline, would truly be Ballon d'Or-caliber.

The poor run of form this season has multiple reasons. The club lost most key players from last campaign. Klopp left the team. Salah and Van Dijk have dropped off sharply in form. New signings are plagued by constant injuries. Wirtz struggles to adapt to the league. Slot’s possession focused system still needs time to mature.

The club will most likely give him more time in charge. It is hard to estimate how much transfer budget will be needed in the next two windows. Almost every position needs reinforcement. Centre back left back and defensive midfielder are all urgent upgrades. Mac Allister and Gravenberch have delivered poor performances all season.

The left wing is stable enough with Gakpo and Diaz. The right wing needs at least one more quality option. The forward line has two reliable strikers but their frequent injury issues are too much to bear.

Filling half of these vacant positions this summer would already count as a successful transfer window. This is only about patching up the squad. We do not even need to evaluate tactical fit or performance yet. The whole situation is really frustrating.

If utd beat Liverpool, then Carrick would have beaten Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Aston Villa, which was third in the league at the time, during rounds 22 to 38. Taking over mid-season, without buying or selling any players, winning the single round-robin against the other five members of the Big Six plus a top-three side would mean Carrick has proven his quality.

As the season draws to a close, even if we end up empty-handed, we can only accept it and start over next season. Pick one player who performed the best and one who performed the worst this season. In my opinion, the best is Tchouaméni and the worst is Vini
