A little stressed and hoping for some thoughts!
Hey, so I’m not too sure where to begin.
I’m 26 and I am a sex worker (I guess that may be an important factor?) so it means I have lots of sex but it’s not all unprotected! I’ve had my hpv vax and I had a smear 8 months ago that was fine.
Anyways I got my mirena coil fitted October time, it’s the only thing that works for my endo symptoms and my last one fell out. Since getting it fitted I’ve had periods here and there, nothing to crazy or abnormal and just normal settling.
When I’m bleeding I use soft tampons, so basically sponges that allow you to have mess free sex.
Around a week or 2 ago I started bleeding a little, I was a bit crampy and I assumed it was a period. One day I removed a sponge and caught a whiff and it was awful! It smelt so bad! Like something had died! Never have I had that before! I ignored it and carried on as normal because there was no smell on the day to day!
I noticed a little bit more tender sex and still spotting very randomly. Pulled out another sponge and it had this same stench. So I decided to have a rummage around incase I’d lost a condom or sponge inside me! Felt my cervix and there’s a decent sized lump on it! Obvs I panicked a little but again just went about my day! Then I pulled out another sponge and it was the worst of them all! Phoned gmed as it was the weekend, they seen me and took and swab and said to book in with sexual health. (This was over the course of a week and I wear period panties when I’m not using a sponge)
Had my appointment today and she looked and has referred me to colposcopy and now I’m nervous and stressing. She didn’t really say much about it other than the lump is firm? She did say my swab came back with bv which I’m not surprised at because I was at the end of my period but this smell did not smell like bv and the smell was only there with the sponge, mainly when there was bright red blood on it! I can’t smell anything on the day to day! So I’m not sure it’s the cause of the smell!
Also bled a bit during sex yesterday but only one time and I’ve been getting more discharge recently!
Has anyone else had similar? I’ve been awful with google and trying to see pictures etc so I know what it looks like if it’s not good or what a bad lump feels like but I’m not sure! I’m probably stressing over nothing but it can’t be helped!
