I have an SCPH-30001. (NTSC U)

I got myself a Gamestar HDD adapter (sorry, but it had 5* reviews on amazon and it seems to work on everyone but me), and ive tried on three hard drives

1. a modern WD blue

2. a WD blue from 2010

3. a hitachi hdd from 2009

(all of them are spinning hard drives)

None worked. Ive tried to use FHDB, and it would fail or freeze on formatting. if i formatted it on ulaunchelf the FMCB installer would say it was unformatted, and lock up when i pressed ok on the format screen. I somehow managed to install FHDB, but after using PS2 Batch installer, it would just boot into a black screen.

Then, with HDD number two, i tried to use the exFat method (using a FMCB memory card, and formatting ur drive as exFAT for use with OPL). The issues are as follows:

1. Sometimes, after connecting the adapter, my PS2 would display no signal, until i flipped the switch off and then back on.
2. The singular game i had (Persona 4) would lock up after certain amount of time, or just freeze on a black screen after being chosen.
3. Sometimes OPL would just not see the hard drive at all. Or see it, and display no games.
4. Trying to use a lower level of UDMA or a compatability mode would just make the game boot to a black screen.
5. Enabling "debug colors" on OPL makes it freeze on a bright orange screen.

Hard drives #1 and #2 report as "Good" in S.M.A.R.T
