Did the YouTube deep divers watch the same Season 2 that I did, or am I losing my mind?
Seriously, every analysis video I've watched talks about how Lukas learned about the Safeguard Procedure in the tunnel, that Bernard gave up after finding out about it, and that Judge Meadows became an alcoholic and stopped being Bernard's shadow because she discovered the Safeguard Procedure.
But I think that's not the whole story.
The show goes out of its way to hide whatever Lukas learns in the tunnel. After that scene, he suddenly has a level of confidence we've never seen from him before, an "it doesn't matter anymore anyway" attitude. Then, at the exact moment he tells Bernard what he discovered, the audience doesn't get to hear it. That doesn't make sense if all he learned was about the Safeguard. By that point, we'd already seen Salvador Quinn's decoded message mentioning it, and Jimmy had already explained it to Juliette in Silo 17. If that were the only revelation, there'd be no reason for the show to conceal it from us.
I'm convinced there's another piece of information, something so disturbing that it completely broke Bernard. After all, Camille already knows about the Safeguard. The algorithm openly tells her that silo-to-silo communication triggers the Safeguard Procedure. So I think there's something else she'll eventually learn that will make her realize she's being manipulated, just as Bernard was, and that everything she's sacrificing for her son is ultimately in vain because they're all doomed anyway, unless they unite with Juliette.

I also find it interesting that Silo 18 is the one Helen, the reporter, is shown entering in the trailer, which would explain why her PEZ dispenser ended up there. Maybe people who questioned the system, like Helen, were intentionally sent to Silo 18, and that silo was always meant to be a dead end.
