I am bewildewred by the cost estimate for video podcasting that I receive from Captivate. They talk about £250 per month which would be factor five of what I pay for audio only.

I have contacted them several times to understand how this works.

What is the anchor point of teh cost - the one time upload of the video episode (~2GB), or does each download gets added in (on 5,000 downloads that would be 10,000GB).

The price quoted suggests the latter, though they may have calculated it on the assumption that all my 238 audio episodes magically turn into videos....

Does anyone have experience with video podcast hosting? What do you pay per episode? I there a scale charge driven by the number of downloads?

I have a new season of my show coming up and wanted for once to do a proper marketing campaign. One leg of those was to send press releases to various newspapers in the (faint) hope they mention the show in the columns.

Searching for them on the internet, it seems many of these columns have vanished. does anyone know of publications still worth targeting (specifically for a history show)?

As had to be expected, the full AI onslaught has now begun. I just came across a "company" called Fexingo that publishes, and I needed to pinch myself - "300 podcasts across 24 regions of the world · updated twice daily · free on every major platform" - and that is only History. There are 45 Economics shows, 40 Business shows, 40 in careers, 100 in horror, 55 in languages, 45 in marketing and 45 in Technology.

Every single one of these shows is presented by the indefatigable presenter duo of Lucas and Luna...what amazing stamina!

I came across it as I was testing a few search terms in an attempt to improve my search rankings in Apple Podcasts....not sure there is much point in doing that now. These 7-8min "shows" cover every conceivable SEO term and thereby clog up every search query.

I guess there is nothing we can do about this...or does anyne have an idea?

I have been editing my own show (solo, narrative) for four years. Most of what I do is cut out repeats, normalise breath down and add my intro and outro music. It is not a lot of work so I am happy to continue doing it. However, I have no audio skills and am wondering whether it is worth hiring an audio professional to master my voice and clean up the sound. Since it is an evergreen show, I may do this for the back catalogue.
Has anyone done this? What do I need to look out for when choosing an editor? Is Fiverr a good place to find someone? Any help much appreciated. Please no solicitation.
