Hi everyone. I live in Taiwan and want to see the Great Wall over my winter break. I don't have a visa but am hoping I can benefit from the 10-day visa free policy as I have an American passport. I was wondering how long I'll need in Beijing to literally just see the Great Wall and leave. Can I fly in one day, have one full day, then leave the next? I want to go to Southeast Asia for the rest of my break so this will just be a quick start to my backpacking trip.

Also would it be possible to add the Zhangjiajie mountain park after? How long would I need for that? Could I just fly from beijing and stay there another couple days then fly to thailand/ cambodia/ laos or something? Does having those two stops in China comply with the visa rules as long as I connect to a country other than Taiwan at the end?

Is there anything I should do right now to strengthen my future application? I'm on Fulbright right now and considering applying to this program when I'm done (so not this cycle but the next in 2027). I am really hoping to get the scholarship! Does anyone have any application advice for this program-- anything helps!

I am applying to be an academic advisor on the Fall 2027 voyage. I wanted to know if anyone has done this job before? I am wondering how competitive it is and what types of experience you need prior. I don't have super relevant experience advising at the university level. My background is mostly in elementary education. I have been in MANY international exchange programs though and am a Fulbright ETA in Taiwan right now. I am a hard worker, adapt quickly to new environments, and am student-centered. Do I have a chance even if I have no advising experience or even peer mentoring or anything?
