"Light at the end of the funnel"

10x10 ring pour. I was hoping to capture more of that orange/white center, looked like a light coming from inside the pour. I think my favorite part is those vibrant outer rainbow rings, they turned out great and remained colorful after drying. That really dark band of red/purple in there aids to a nice geode effect that I'm digging. What do you think?

Funnel Creature

8x8 ring pour. Didn't mean to do the pour so off center! But still think it's rad and loved the colors.

Keep scrolling for a 6x ring pour. Figured I'd post one I'm not fond of as well, shape and colors not the result I was hoping for.. 10x20 canvas. Side note, I used some cheap blue paint I got on sale for flow extender, it ended up bleeding up through my pour in a few spots. Anyone have any advice in what they do for flow extender? Thinner or thicker than your paints and do you just use white? Or a not dense paint?

Spotlight

8x8 ring pour. Wasn't sure how I felt about this one when I first made it but it's been growing on me! I love the how the yellow lines within the white section turned out, never had that effect happen before. And the white section is interesting too how it just pops more than the rest of the painting. Check pic 2 for diff orientations, and pic 3 +4 are closeups of some of my fav parts on the canvas.

Cosmic Drift

8x12 flip cup. This one was gorgeous when it was wet with all the colors layered and wavy over each other. There were several blobs of white that pushed up and reminded me of stars in a nebula. I shaped some of the bigger ones with a toothpick. This is the first time I've "drawn" on one of my pours and I just tried to have fun with it and not worry if I was fucking up my painting 😅. Now I'm glad that I did, as it has all these fun little people/creatures/things that draw my eye all over the canvas. Let me know what you think!

The Divide

12x24 triple ring pour. Was happy with how this one turned out! Lots of stretching and tilting. I'd use like 1oz paint per ring if I did this size again.

Dragon Roost

10x10 funnel pour. Can't decide on the orientation though I'm leaning with pic 1 because I totally see a dragon. Pic 2, I see a profile of a creature in a cocoon with the sun above the cocoon. What do you think/see?

First Contact

12x24 triple ring pour. Only done a handful of these multi ring pours and it's kind of challenging tilting and covering the whole canvas! But I love thst I was able to capture that top rings center and how it looks lkke a worm hole to me. The aliens are coming!

8x8 ring pour, still wet.

I kinda like this angle best. Anyone else ever take their phone and tilt from side to side when viewing others pour paintings to see which angle looks best? 🧐

Whale Kissed

8x10 flip cup, 2 drops silicone in one of the colors. Some cells in the outer edge of the pour when I first flipped but ended up having to tilt them off to cover the canvas.

How would you rank these 3?

I am happy with them all, but can't decide which I like best. I think 1 and 3 edge out 2 slightly but I love the center of 2 so much too! Let me know your picks!

Triple Ring Pour

I wanted to revisit doing a triple ring pour on these rectangle canvases (10x20). I esp love the colors and lines where the different ring pours merged.

It was trickier than I remember to tilt and get all the sides and corners covered, lots of stretching as a result. If I did again, I'd do a base layer around the perimeter of the freshly poured rings to help them flow easier to the sides and corners. Or maybe do 4 rings instead of 3, or 6 smaller rings in two columns. If anyone has tips or tricks for multi ring pours or pours on these rectangle canvases, please share!

"Houston, we have a problem"

8x10 flip cup with leftover paints. Wanted cells but not a ton so just a small drop of silicone in one of the colors. I keep getting little blobs of white in my pics and Ive been trying to draw little people or things with them. This one turned out to be an astronaut, which I felt matched the alien landscape vibe. Too much negative space?

11x14 Funnel Pour

I was pleased with how the pattern turned out on this one! What orientation do you think fits best? I think I like horizontal over vertical, but prob could go any direction.

Help with Liquitex Pouring Medium (gloss)

So I splurged and got this when I saw it was on clearance at Michael's. I use my own pouring medium (50% glue, 30% floetrol, 20% water) and usually do roughly ~3:1 pouring medium/paint for my pours. However, when I tried that ratio with the Liquitex, it came out soooo thick. I ended up adding a ton of my own medium + water to get it to a consistency I could use. Normally I prep in batches and have 3 or 4 oz of paint per color I'm doing, but ended up with 16 Oz solo cups of my colors the first time I used this Liquitex pouring medium. The container says use 19:1 PM to paint ratio, but at $100 a gallon, I want to figure out how to incorporate it at smaller doses with my current homemade PM mix.

So my question is for those who use the Liquitex - how do you mix your paints??

This was a flip cup with leftover paints. I saw all those cool cells in the middle and tried to keep them as intact as I could! Each color had a couple layers, though the yellow was at the bottom of the cup, therefore the last to exit after flipping. I looked up the liquitex density chart (from Left brained artist) and saw that naples yellow is one of the denser colors. As is the mars black, which I didn't use a lot of it (I did "churn" it and layered it fast into the pour cup so it sank into the other colors directly). Hope this makes sense!

If anyone knows how to get this effect more consistently without it being a ditch pour. I'd love to know!
