I need some help...
2011 Porsche Cayenne Base (V6) \~170k miles. This is long I apologize
so this has happened three or four times before today but I am a little strapped for cash and I don't have anything else to drive and I can't just not drive in the area I live, it is not feasible.
the first three or four times, the following happened. I was getting ready to start driving (happened either on initial drive or after I was parked and started to move) and suddenly I get a warning for "Brake Force Distribution Failure." Car decides to not do anything, my gas pedal does nothing. I have to put it in park, turn off the car and turn it on again to get anything to work. However, after doing this once, it goes back to normal and continues to work without issue. Each of these events happened around a week or two apart give or take. Long enough for me to say its something that just happens
today it happened a total of five times. I was driving on the highway at around 80mph. Car suddenly (no obvious relation to acceleration) throws brake force error code as well as ABS Error, Generator Failure, and two other codes I can't recall. I have no acceleration when I press the gas pedal and my electronics are completely non-functional. Turn signals, hazards, etc do not work. Headlights are off. Internal lights in car sputtered on and off maybe a few times over the course of 10 seconds
I promptly pull over on the side of the highway and put the car in park. Turn it off and on again and attempt to accelerate back onto the highway. This time I am accelerating properly to get to speed and back on the road safely. I am driving for maybe 5 total seconds (some small distance but barely) and all this happens again and I pull back over. After this I am okay for the rest of that drive. I get to where I need to be and leave the car running for around 10 minutes maybe.
I get ready to leave and the car is fine however around 10 minutes in the same thing happens and I pull over. Again when I restart the car it goes maybe 15 feet and again dies with all the errors. I restart it one more time and it does not go anywhere and immediately throws the errors when I attempt to move (not sure if I just did not leave the car off long enough for whatever "system reset" to occur). I try to restart again and this time it runs normally and I can continue moving. The rest of the drive home the issue does not occur. When I get home I parked and left the car running for another 5 ish minutes and attempted to drive it again for a few minutes after to see if the issue would come up again, but it did not.
I have done some research and my suspicion as of now is that it is either the alternator or the voltage distributor not working properly. Someone help me out with confirming what is wrong so I can fix this issue.
