My arrogant neighbor kept stealing my parking spot. I made sure his car got towed every time he did it again
A few months ago I moved into a quiet apartment complex in Florida after landing my first real job. I'm 20, working from home most days, and the one thing that drove me crazy was the parking. We only have assigned spots and mine was right by the stairs so I could haul my groceries up without killing my back.
This guy in 4B, let's call him Mike, thought the rules didn't apply to him. He'd pull his loud truck into my spot almost every evening even though his own spot was two rows over and always empty. First couple times I left polite notes on his windshield. He crumpled them up and tossed them on the ground. Then he started parking there on purpose, like it was a game.
I was so fed up I went to the landlord twice. He just shrugged and said to call towing if it happened again. So that's exactly what I did. I found the cheapest after-hours towing service that charged by the hour and kept their number saved. The third time Mike took my spot I waited until 10pm, snapped a picture with the complex rules sign in frame, and had them haul his truck away. Cost him almost 400 bucks.
He was furious when he found out the next morning. Came banging on my door yelling about how I was a crazy bitch. I just smiled sweetly and told him the spot was assigned and maybe next time he'd remember. After that he avoided my side of the lot completely for a couple weeks.
But old habits die hard. About a month later I came home late from running errands and there was his truck again, crooked over the line like he owned it. I didn't even get mad this time. Just called the same towing company, went inside, poured myself some iced tea, and watched from my window as they hooked it up and drove off.
He had to take an Uber to the tow yard the next day. I heard him complaining loudly to another neighbor about "that entitled girl in 2C." The neighbor actually laughed and said maybe he should stop parking in her spot.
Since then my parking spot has stayed empty and Mike parks in his own like a normal person. Sometimes I still see him glaring but he hasn't tested me again. Feels pretty good knowing all it took was letting the system do the work for me.
