I have multiple small holes on this knit shirt I sewed the sleeves back onto. Is there anything I can do to make them less noticeable or anyway to cover them with a cute embroidery stitch?

Hello, I have a janome hd3000 and wanted to try free motion embroidery. I ordered a kit online that said it would fit my machine. It came with a cover plate but it doesn’t fit at all. I tried sewing and it’s pretty difficult as the fabric keeps getting caught. Is there any alternatives to this or different plates to try?
