How Trump’s Crypto Push Is Linked to Bessent’s Treasury Moves (Gift Article)

This is very interesting. Bessent and Trump want to issue more short term T-bills and use the proceeds to buy back longer dated T-bonds (e.g., 10Y / 30Y) which will lower the yields (this matters since the 10Y/30Y are heavy benchmarks for consumer interest rates) and obviously the more expensive the rates, the harder it is for the US to borrow.

With stablecoins, the GENIUS act would force them to hold highly liquid assets like short-term treasuries. So now the US govt would have a captive buyer. Additionally, the CLARITY act would standardize crypto regulations and hopefully spur additional investment into crypto / stablecoins, which means more stable coin reserves, thus more treasury buying.

Here's the best part:
"But Bessent has in the past cited projections that stablecoins could grow into a nearly $4 trillion market, and written that “this could lower government borrowing costs"

Tether (which is directly linked and funded by Lutnick) pays no interest if you hold USDT, and if they are the only ones buying treasuries, they keep the entire interest spread, also since Tether's users are mostly outside the US, it creates and additional level of international funding for the US government since they can hold USDT which buys treasuries without having a US bank account or brokerage.

TLDR: Bessent wants to use stablecoins as a way to fund purchases of shortterm treausry borrowing which would buy back longer duration treasury bonds which would hopefully lower yields thus lower consumer borrowing costs and also reduce the GOVT interest payments.

The market is rigged, analysis is dead.

Is there literally ANYTHING that will make the market go down? SOH is closed? Oil is down. Terrible jobs report? Market rips. Great jobs report? Market rips.

No matter how logical, well-written, and sourced your thesis is, the market will always go up and will fly in the face of any traditional logic or reason.

Even if you can predict the exact time and catalyst for when these tech companies MAYBE, just MAYBE correct down (20%) you could see this administration step in and throw money at them to beat Chyna or some other nonsense that Sam Altman et al. cry and piss and moan about to Trump.

I work in IB and everyday I read the tape or WSJ or CNBC or Zero Hedge or whatever I am ALWAYS baffled by how many clear, negative catalysts occur everyday for this country and then I check the market and the equities are ripping, treasury yields are flat or down, and life is just going on as if it's all peaches 'n cream.

I'm seriously at a loss for words.

Can someone explain the new lawsuit developments?

I am a bit OOTL on this one.

Last I heard Ethan dropped it after Ian's apology and Oliver Tree's death. Then Ian and Anisa crash out saying it's still being litigated and now it appears Ian didn't fulfill his obligation to drop the lawsuit in the first place? Am I missing something?

Found this keychain in SF! I love the creativity of this community :)

I was at an art festival at Japantown in San Francisco the other week and I saw this amazing key chain!

I just wanted to share here and give the artist some love :)

Does anyone know the story of the woman on 9th and Irving?

Every evening on 9th Avenue and Irving there is a woman who stays in a little notch by that campaign office.

She is obviously troubled and has some pretty serious mood swings where she’ll watch reels or FaceTime people or draw cute little Grateful Dead bears in chalk around her. However, other times she’ll clearly be under the influence screaming at people passing by or acting erratically.

I’ve seen aid workers speak to her before but she always comes back to the same spot.

Anyone know her story?

It's pretty much over right? What's next?

He has to be contemplating getting a real job soon, no?

What does he have going for him anymore?

  • The Creator Clash IP is worthless (and subsequent drama has died off)
  • His reputation is completely shattered and has more no friends or allies
  • His streaming career has failed (Denny's Patrons sub-400 soon)
  • Anisa's streaming career failed
  • The podcast arc failed (the last Bog was over two weeks ago and I'm not paying $5 for it)
  • His main Youtube channel is trending toward sub-100K views per video, his latest video on the second channel didn't even crack 40K views

It's Jom-over at this point. I wonder if he wished the Ethan lawsuit was still going on so he could milk the money and drama.

It's either getting a "jay oh bee" or fading into complete irrelevancy.
