Good Pinkbike review of 4 entry level MTBs

Good Pinkbike review of 4 entry level MTBs

They are riding some pretty extreme trails, so you have to take your own terrain into account, but I think they do a great analysis of the pros and cons of these bikes.

It is too bad that the OZT FS.3 is sold out right now. They might have been better off with a Polygon for their full suspension and the OTR Pro as the Walmart representative.

Metro H1 build out and impressions

A relative asked about advice on buying a bike and I decided to buy this for her birthday. I used the touch points upgrades to add some color, since it is a bit plain in gray with black.

Some thoughts:

  • The tires that came on it looked/felt terrible; more plastic than rubber. I replaced them with some new Panaracer Gravel King SK plus tires from Ebay for $50.
  • I hadn't really paid attention to the geometry before, but it is definitely an aggressive "cafe racer" style. I wish I had ordered some riser/sweep city bars to make it a little more upright and comfortable. I've offered to make that swap later.
  • The headset was a pretty sticky. I pulled the bearings (not sealed) and re-greased them. It is a lot better, but if she rides a lot, I think I'll be replacing the headset.
  • I made some adjustments to the brakes to try to get the right bite point, but they will need more fine tuning.
  • It is really light, which was a welcome surprise.
  • For $180, it is a good deal, but with another $70-100 invested, you really have an awesome bike.

Portable advice - Hisense, Midea or GE?

A window unit isn't an option, so I'm looking for a portable inverter/dual hose ac for a bedroom in our house.

The two at Costco for around $400 seem attractive, but also get a high percentage of negative feedback. Does anyone have experience with the GE inverter models yet? It is a lot more money, but is the quality enough better to justify it?

I know the Hisense is considerably less power, but I like the lower weight and smaller size.
