Short Trip to Columbia - What to Do

Hi everyone! I'll be in Columbia tomorrow through Saturday afternoon for a conference on Mizzou's campus. I have tomorrow afternoon/evening available, Friday night, as well as a couple of hours Saturday afternoon before I head home. I'm looking for recommendations of places to go/see.

I have been told I need to eat at Shakespeare's pizza, which is currently my plan for tomorrow--but open to other suggestions! The rest of my meals are taken care of/planned (so if you could only eat at one place...).

Looking for cute shops to pop into tomorrow or Saturday afternoon, a decent bar with good (and/or cheap) cocktails, and maybe a park or museum that could be worth a quick visit on Saturday.

Thanks in advance!

UPDATES:

  • Found out we are going to The Heidelberg for dinner on Friday.
  • Here's my current plan (thanks to your recommendations!):
    • Thursday: downtown shops and dinner (maybe still Shakespeare's, maybe not). Sparky's Ice Cream and then a drink somewhere (so many good options, it sounds like).
    • Friday: pop by the Midway Antique Mall after conference before dinner, drinks to follow.
    • Saturday: conference wraps up at 1 or 2pm. Stop into the Museum of Art and Archaeology for a bit, hit up Devil's Icebox for a quick hike, and grab another bite to eat before my 5 hour drive home.
    • Now wishing I'd decided to stay Saturday night, too!

Appreciate the info! Looking forward to my first time in CoMo!
