Funding for Research (NOT ASKING FOR YOU TO DONATE)

I'm an independent high schooler conducting research in engineering this Summer, and the equipment isn't that pricey, but I don't wanna pester parents. It costs total around $500-600 USD.

Are there any ways I can seek funding? I will also be lent equipment but I'm trying to self-purchase more advanced stuff.

IEEE NaviCon

Hey, I'm a high schooler, and unfortunately I can't make the deadline for even trying out IEEE NaviCon.

Has anyone submitted? I can't go physically as well, but I'd love to know more about the people involved.

Anyone interested in Waymo's engineering?

Just looking for anyone to discuss navigation like multi-sensor fusion, LiDAR, Urban GNSS etc specifically relevant to Waymo.

Wouldn't expect much people on here see it's about ridership but anyone interested DM

(I'm not in college)

Engineering Majors

Hi, I'm in high school (sophomore) and have time to decide. I'm stuck between these majors:

Aerospace Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Civil Engineering

Aerospace/Civil are my top two, as I have profound interest in these transport systems. For some context, I am a GNSS and navigation enthusiast, with research soon in Urban GNSS for transport systems. I'm not as interested in Mechanical.

If not in academia, I'd also like to work in GPS/GNSS for autonomous navigation and transport

I want to work in academia (Professor) probably in Aerospace, but if I work in industry I'm still looking for a degree after undergrad.

Any advice helps, thanks.

This Summer I'm writing a paper in Navigation/GNSS with a solution. To shoot my shot, I'm aiming for IEEE T-ITS. Does anyone know the procedure or whether or not HS Students can submit? I am being mentored by a Professor who is a Co-Author, as I am working on 90% (algorithms, experiment etc) and he is lending equipment

GNSS in the US vs. Asia

This is a more niche topic, but as a Taiwanese why is GNSS research and navigation (LiDAR, Urban GNSS, Mitigating NLOS) more focused in Taiwan, Japan and South Korea specifically rather than the US? This topic is extremely useful but I've only seen it done by people from Taiwan, Japan and Korea, working in Hong Kong or Japan.

Other than Google's Android Team in the US, there's not many people in GNSS or navigation.

I'm a huge fan of Navigation and GNSS, and I love that my country is so skilled and famed in it.

I'm just curious, so please don't take offence

I'm a HS Student conducting research this Summer on a pretty niche topic for an engineering field (not like super niche but not common) and I was wondering if I need to propose a solution/algorithm for the problem.

For background, I will be conducting this experiment and empirically/forensically analyse my own data and since I don't have any high-level software/hardware, I don't think proposing a solution is reasonable, but I can find alternatives.

That said, if I want to publish this in a probably B-list journal do I need to develop a solution?
