jRO or Zero Global for returning player?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently living in Japan and I used to be a long-time Ragnarok Online player back in the day. I stopped playing around ~10 years ago.
Recently I’ve been thinking about coming back, but I’m a bit lost with all the different versions of RO now.
So I wanted to ask:
Is jRO still active in 2026?
Is it worth starting fresh there for a returning player?
How is the population and general experience these days?
And I also saw there is a new version called Ragnarok Zero Global.
From what I understand:
It’s a “classic-style / reworked RO” project
But I’m not sure how different it is from regular RO or Renewal
My questions about RO Zero Global are:
How different is it compared to normal RO / Renewal / jRO?
Does it still have the full map content, or are some maps missing/locked?
Is there rebirth / transcend / 3rd job system, or is it removed/changed?
Would you recommend it for someone who mainly enjoyed classic RO gameplay?
I really enjoyed the old style of RO (grinding maps, party leveling, supporting as a priest, etc.), so I’m trying to figure out which version would feel closest to that experience today.
Any advice from current players would be really appreciated!
