for the people who hadnt read the book: Greg was a character that was obessed with alison and thought she could do no wrong and he befriended the liars just to get back at them and to try to help alison

however, in the show instead of being alison they couldve flipped it and made it about mona instead [monacats] and have lesi befriend the liars (spencer to be exact like in the books) frame the liars + alison and have them being sent to jail all because lesi was obessed with Mona being A & how she was misunderstood and that the liars were the ones that drove mona to do it in the first place. she couldve also team up with A because they had something in common for different reasons and then that would've kicked start the dollhouse era.

it would also make sense why mike wouldnt like her & why she was yelling at mona on the phone (like i did everything for you, am i not good enough blah blah blah)
