Does women actually mean it when they call other women they don’t know pretty or are they just trying to break the ice?

If you’re a woman and you’ve ever been out socializing, it’s not uncommon for another girl you haven’t met before to approach you and give you a compliment, right? But I’m just so curious, do they actually mean it or is it just something they say to break the ice? Cause I’ve done the latter too many times without truly meaning it… So when other women give me compliments, I just can’t believe them!

So for context, I’ve never ever done anything like this before and the idea of stealing has always made me feel so uncomfortable. But it has become so normalized in my friend group and I began to feel tempted when I saw just how many pretty and nice clothes they got for free… so I gave in today and tried stealing a shirt. It wasn’t even that nice and idk why I did it, but I’ve definitely learned my lesson after this. Anyways, I was with a friend and we both stole one clothing item each and left the hangers in the changing room. One of the workers noticed the hangers and ran after us and then asked to check our bags. I had packed the shirt under my pc in my bag so I just showed her my bag and she let us go. But now I’m terrified that they’re gonna check the cameras and idk, search up my face and find where I live and arrest me 😭😭 I just turned 18 too so I’m really scared. Also super ashamed of myself, like it’s all I can think about now. I’m more worried about this than the three exams I have coming up.
