This is a long shot, but does anyone recognize this news article from 1998?

When I was 8, I was diagnosed with ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia), and the doctors advised my family to put my cat up for adoption. She was adopted by a couple along with a kitten from the Palestine shelter, I believe. Or at least, Palestine wrote the article snippet about it. I sent the shelter a not so nice letter (at least, I thought I was being rude, hence the p.s. at the end), and a box of Sassy's "privet things". She was my best friend. She was the most tolerant cat in the world, and I pestered my doctors to death asking when we could adopt her back. (Obviously that never happened, haha.)

Anyway, I stumbled across the article again and thought, "I hope she had the best life." And then I wondered if maybe I could track them down to ask that question directly. 😂

Teefs. Little baby bottom teefs. That is all.

She was getting ready to boof at the pest control guy while standing with her front paws on my recliner, and I saw an opportoothity, so I tooth it.

Ahem.

Anyway, only just found out her tiny itty bitty bottom middle teeth are a common Pyr thing. 😂 Show me yalls?

Did a little training outdoors with Winnie today, practicing tuck and also just getting her used to being in a spot with a lot of traffic.

She did so well. 🥰 A little nervous at first, but after that she was just chilling. It was overcast and windy, so not as hot as it has been, but I only kept her out there for about 20 minutes. Once she started panting more, I called it.

Okay, let's hear your pyr's most ridiculous fear phase irrational freak-outs and their reasons. And how did you help them through it?

Currently, my 10 month old pyr pup has decided that our dark hardwood floor (the house is pretty evenly divided, dining room and living room on one side with dark wood floors, white tile for the hallway and kitchen/dinette area) is lava. Or, more likely, a dark scary abyss that she's in danger of falling into any time she steps onto it. So I either have to coax her to walk to the couch (and by walk I mean, she splays all her legs out and sort of belly skiddaddles, neither fully walking or crawling but... you know that scene in Bambu where Bambi walks on ice for the first time? Yeah, that.)... or she sits at the dividing line and looks at me while Arms of an Angel plays in the background. Yesterday she even peeked over the back of the couch. 😂 I only got a blurry picture, but it was still hilarious.

It's only been happening for the past week or so. (I am talking to her vet today as well to make sure it's not something to do with her eyes, just waiting until he's done with our other dog's labs, they'll see if she's just being silly or needs an appt.)

The week before, a groomer tech accidentally clipped one of her nails too short (not her fault, it was super hard to see where the quick was!), and suddenly Winnie thought the floors of the store where we do training were biting her because it hurt any time she took a step for the rest of the day? So when we went to training yesterday, it was this whole ordeal of trying to get her to walk past the entryway, where the first "bite" happened.

I'm wondering if the same pain happened on our hardwood floors and now she assumes it's out to get her.

So anyway. 😂 Does anyone else have fun fear-phase based fear stories? My trainer said when her dog was in his big teenage fear period like Winnie is, he woke up one day and decided the rocking chair that had been there since he was born was a big scary monster that he had to protect them from. How do you even help her through something like this? Toys and treats aren't high value enough apparently to bribe her with.

Funny thing my husband said.

(Yes, she's pouting in this pic as it was the first time and realized she couldn't take us both on a (involuntary for me) squirrel chase, but she's since gotten used to the gentle leader and doesn't mind it.)

So, yesterday morning my husband caught me digging out my little craft tape measure and measuring Winnie's paws. She was on the couch next to him as he drank his coffee, their morning routine. He asked what I was doing, and I said I was going to buy her some little doggy boots, but needed to measure first according to the ones I liked and wanted to order. He laughed and said, "God gave you free will and this is how you use it. I'll never be bored." 😂

Anyway, it's about to be really hot where I am and I didn't want her paws to get burnt if we take walks in the middle of the day! I also got her some paw wax. 😂

These are the ones I ordered, btw. We tried them on this morning and she had some amazing zoomies once she realized she wasn't sliding all over the hardwood floor anymore. But then she tried to eat them thinking they were some kind of new toy so off they went.
