You know, I give the 80s series a lot of shit for not being near as good as the original, but damn if this segment doesn't hit hard. Especially that ending where the mom is doomed to either live her life alone as everyone else are basically statues, or she chooses to let humanity die out.

If that's not a living hell I don't know what is.
