This angle from him in his interview with Breen was bizarre to me at first before I realized what he’s doing.
He’s characterizing the idea of anyone thinking the Spurs *could* win as “falling for it.”
To be clear, the Spurs are a significant underdog in the Vegas futures to win the championship. OKC is hugely favored.
I listen to and read all the nba pundits and *no one* is picking the Spurs to win. By far the most common feeling is just a sense of “well, jeez, anything could happen. Who knows what Wemby can do?”
But in Ryen’s mind, there are people out there who have “fallen for it” and he’s even so generous he can “understand why”.
Not Ryen. Ryen is heroically bucking the groupthink of NBA forecasters by picking the major odds favorite.
