Should i take a drop ?

I’m a CSE fresher with 97.2%ile. I chose LNMIIT over IIITs because a friend told me IIITs don’t have much college life.

Initially everything was great, but after seniors arrived, things changed. I was called to a room in BH1 for ragging, where I was abused badly enough that I ended up crying.

They told me this is what I have to go through if I want to “enjoy college life.”

I was really excited to join the music club—I play guitar, tabla and sing—and continue basketball, which I’ve played at the national level. But after this experience, I don’t feel comfortable joining any clubs or sports involving seniors.

Now I’m thinking of taking a drop and going to an IIIT instead.
Am I overreacting, or is taking a drop worth considering?

I decided not to join any clubs or sports🥲

I recently decided that I’m not going to join any clubs or sports in college.
I was actually pretty excited about it because I play guitar and tabla, sing, and I’ve played basketball at the national level. But after hearing about the kind of “ragging” that happens in some clubs and sports teams, and after experiencing a really horrible interaction with a senior myself, I don’t think it’s worth it.
I know seniors might call it “fun” or “tradition,” but being shouted at and abused just because you’re a fresher isn’t something I’m comfortable with.
It honestly sucks because I feel like I’m giving up things I genuinely love just to avoid this whole situation.
Would you guys make the same decision, or am I overthinking it?
