[Paid] Hiring UGC Creators for Japanese Language App

Hey everyone!

I'm one of the founders of Gravity, a Japanese language learning app.

We're looking for a few creators to make short-form videos about Japanese language, culture, studying, travel, anime, or anything in that space.

We provide the content ideas—you just film in your own style. Most videos take around 10–20 minutes to make.

Pay
$15 USD per approved video ($100–300+/week)
• Performance bonuses up to $750 USD per video
• Free access to the app

We're looking for people who:
• Have a genuine interest in Japanese language or culture
• Are comfortable on camera
• Can post consistently (follower count isn't the priority)

If you're interested, reply with the link to your best-performing account, or apply here (form applications get priority):

Looking forward to hearing from you!

What do you wish language learning apps did better?

Hi! I'm doing some research into how people actually learn languages and what makes language learning apps genuinely useful (or frustrating).

My team put together a short anonymous survey (about 3–5 minutes) covering things like:

  • how you currently learn
  • which methods help you the most
  • which apps you've used
  • what frustrates you about them
  • features you wish existed

We're building a language learning companion app with a focus on Japanese called Gravity, and we're using the responses to better understand what learners actually want instead of making assumptions.

I'd be glad to share some of the results with everyone here once it's finished.

I'd really appreciate your input!

is there any mobile app similar to this game?

hi guys,

i recently played this game that i thought was really cute and barely felt like learning (im not affiliated with the game):

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1632490/Shashingo_Learn_Japanese_with_Photography/

i was wondering if anyone knows of an app similar to this that lets you take pictures of anything to create flashcards/lessons? seems like a fun concept that would be good for beginners

We studied Japanese for years, moved to Japan and still struggled daily. So we made something new

Hey! We're a 3-person team of university students from Vancouver, Canada who bonded over our shared experiences through our study abroad in Japan. It was the best experience of our lives and we're still chasing that high after a year.

But from our time there, we shared a common issue; years of studying Japanese through textbooks and courses, then standing in front of a menu, a subway sign, or any unfamiliar text, and still not being able to read most of it.

What frustrated us most was that language learning always felt disconnected from real life. We’d spend hours studying vocab lists or flashcards, then immediately forget the words we actually needed during the day. We knew immediately that applied language learning was an unsolved problem—one we wanted to take a real shot at.

So we created an app for ourselves. It's a mobile app that lets you take/upload photos of the language you encounter in your actual life, and Gravity turns it into personalized learning.

You can:

  • Take pictures of signs, menus, manga, texts, etc.
  • Extract the words you want to learn
  • Generate flashcards based on the original context/image
  • Our app builds a learning system around the language that you're exposed to

We think that this app can be useful for exchange students, travelers, immigrants, expats-- anyone who is trying to immerse more naturally.

We're still very early and pending approval on the app store, but we have a beta test through Apple TestFlight (IOS only for now) for those interested in trying it out! We've been using it daily, and I’d love to hear your feedback to improve it for other learners too. Beta access will be completely free.

You can waitlist or learn more about the app here:

I would really love to hear your feedback or answer any questions!
