I am waiting for the admission results of Uni Hamburg which will be announced on 27th May but the application period for FAU is till 31st May. If I don't get admitted in Uni Hamburg then only I find it worth it to apply for FAU because the application fees are 100 euros.

So my main important question is, can I apply to FAU on the 27th or 28th May by paying the application fees of 100 euros? Is it possible that FAU will consider my application if the payment is done within the application deadline but the payment receipt is generated or received by FAU after the application deadline?

I’m in a bit of a dilemma and would really appreciate some guidance from people who’ve gone through the German uni + visa process.

So here’s my situation:

• I’ve already received an admit from one German university (let’s call it Uni A)
• I’m still waiting for decisions from a couple of “better” universities (Uni B, Uni C).

>Side note: By "better" I mean the universities whose master's program are more likeable to me, big cities, etc.

• Deadlines are approaching, so I’m planning to accept Uni A to be on the safe side

Now the tricky part:

I was planning to apply for my student visa using Uni A’s admit, so I don’t lose time. But what happens if I later get an admit from Uni B (which I’d prefer)?

My questions:

1. Is it okay to accept Uni A now and then back out later if I get a better admit?
2. If I apply for a visa with Uni A and later decide to go with Uni B:
   • Do I need to redo the entire visa process?
   • Or can I just inform the embassy and update my documents?
3. Has anyone here actually switched universities after getting their visa approved?

I don’t want to mess this up or cause any visa issues, so I’m trying to plan this smartly.

Would really appreciate any real experiences or advice 🙏
