Rose Bake Shop

Recently Rose Bake Shop opened next to my workplace and y’all should give it a try. They have variety of Turkish pastries like börek and poğaça but their Cheesecakes taste like heaven. Also I think it’s the only place in OKC where you can drink Turkish Coffee made in the traditional way. Staff is very friendly as well :)

Classen Inn, Oklahoma City (c.1963)

A motel designed for the age of the American road trip.

Built in 1963 along historic Route 66, Classen Inn is a surviving example of Mid-Century Modern roadside architecture and Googie. A style that embraced clean lines, geometric forms, bold signage and the growing optimism of postwar America. Its low slung profile, rhythmic repetition of doors and windows and neon lit façade were all designed to catch the eye of travelers arriving by cars.

Unlike the grand hotels of downtown, places like this celebrated movement. One night, one room, one story before the next stretch of highway.
Today, the restored neon sign still glows over Classen Boulevard, offering a glimpse into an era when family vacations unfolded on two lane roads and a motel could be both a destination and a promise of adventure.

Architectural Gem, The Kessler Theatre (c.1941)

Built in 1941, the historic Kessler theater in Dallas has survived a turbulent history, including a tornado, a fire, and decades of dormancy. After reopening as a live music venue in 2010, the restored Art Deco building has become a cultural anchor for Oak Cliff, offering a unique, intimate concert experience that honors its long-standing connection to Texas music.

Reminder that the Turkish Food & Art Festival is Today (11AM-8PM)

There will be Turkish food, desserts, coffee, live performances, art/vendor booths, and enough pastries to destroy your self control.

If you’ve never had authentic Turkish food before, this is probably one of the best chances in OKC to try it.

Turkish Food & Art Festival happening this Saturday (5/16 11AM-8PM)

Hey everyone!
Our local Turkish community is putting together a Turkish Food & Art Festival this Saturday and I thought some people here might enjoy it.

There’ll be homemade Turkish food, desserts, tea/coffee, live cultural performances, art, music, and a small bazaar-style atmosphere. It’s also a fundraiser/community event, so proceeds help support future cultural activities.

If you’ve never tried Turkish food beyond kebabs, this is honestly a fun place to start. Expect things like baklava, börek, gözleme, Turkish coffee (I’ll be at Turkish Coffee stand), grilled meats, and probably someone’s aunt insisting you eat more.
