AITA for asking my brother to pay back the money I gave him for his wedding?
I'm 30M and my brother is 27M.
Last year my brother was getting married and was short about $4,000. He asked if I could lend it to him.
I said yes, but I told him I'd need it back within a year. He agreed.
A few months ago I reminded him about it and he said he'd start paying me back after his wedding expenses were settled.
Then last week I found out he and his wife had just booked a $6,000 vacation.
I asked him about the $4,000.
He said, "Bro, it's not like I don't have the money. I just don't want to think about debt while I'm enjoying my life."
I told him that's literally what debt is.
He got annoyed and said I was acting like his bank instead of his brother.
I said, "You asked me for a loan. Banks also expect the money back."
Now my parents think I'm being petty because I clearly don't need the $4,000 urgently.
My brother says I embarrassed him by bringing it up right after he announced the vacation.
I don't think asking for money back after the agreed deadline is unreasonable.
AITA here?
