Management

hello everyone,

I overhead my GM saying that she was going to start sending people home if they didn’t meet their conversion goals within an hour or two. is this within policy?? or any rules against it? sometimes people just want a $10 foundation and not a $60 one that won’t work.

hi all, just a quick rant about my store in general. not too sure how everyone’s is but ! anyway, i have been working at ulta as a regular beauty advisor for about 8 months now and it hasn’t been the best. managers picking favorites, coworkers acting like we’re in high school and i was never properly trained. there is so much stuff i do not know how to do. anytime i ask anyone they just look at me annoyed and I feel like they talk behind my back even though I just mind my business. Truly.

since our store is insanely high volume, i am glued to that register. i am not allowed to do bopis, i cannot open fragrances, i cannot help on the floor, i cannot do go backs, i can barely even give customers my recommendations. we have specific people designated for every position. it is so draining to have to deal with those customers everyday. we have high credit goals as well and i always hit my goal right away. i get two or more cards per shift but i never get hours that reflect that?? i have gotten even 20 cards in one week but management doesn’t care. we recently got a new lead cashier and i get more cards than her too??? i barely average 15 hours a week.

today, one of my newer managers let me know that our GM said we basically have to do everything we can for our customer to make sure they come back. this includes taking returns EVEN if they are empty and over return window. giving out birthday gifts without an account or coupon. giving out gifts for any inconvenience. asking managers to honor coupons for no reason. i literally had a lady say she had 20% off (she did not show anything and this was after the recent coupon that expired) and my manager just gave it to her???

i hate how the make me look like an idiot when that’s literally the policy? customers get to yell and belittle me but once my manager gives them free stuff they’re so nice. my manager said it’s because it is “not our money” so who cares. it’s not about the money, it’s more about the entitlement because i know customers will go to other stores expecting the same treatment.

because of the low hours i get, i had to pick up a second job, which sucks because i have open availability at ulta. if i cut down my availability at Ulta, they will most likely punish me. i am truly just there for my discount at this point.
