Politechnika Śląska or Politechnika Łódzka
Hi everyone,
My younger brother is planning to come to Poland for his Bachelor’s degree in software engineering (studying in English).
After a lot of research, we are torn between two options:
- Silesian University of Technology (Politechnika Śląska) - Informatics (B.Sc.)
- Lodz University of Technology (Politechnika Łódzka) - Computer Science (B.Sc.)
Since on-paper descriptions don't show the real picture, we would love to get some honest insights from locals, alumni, or current students. If you have any experience with either of these universities or cities, could you help us compare them based on these points?
- Which university has better quality of education? And which one is more "student-friendly" in terms of administration and bureaucracy for foreigners? Is one significantly harder to pass/graduate from than the other?
- Which uni leaves you enough free time or provides better practical labs/projects to actually build a solid portfolio?
- Does one of these universities have a stronger reputation or better ties with the Polish game dev scene?
- How is the social life for international students? Gliwice vs. Łódź—which city is better/more fun to live in as a student? How is the campus vibe?
Any personal experiences, pros and cons, or even "stay away from X" warnings would be highly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance!
