Lengthening to specific mm/inch vertically without affecting the horizontal of an object

Lengthening to specific mm/inch vertically without affecting the horizontal of an object

I have created these pieces for an interlocking adjustable frame (to be laser cut) and would like to lengthen the pieces without distorting the tabs/blanks (the connecting parts).

Specifically I need to control the length to specific mm/cm/inch measurements from A to B on both sides of the green piece (and subsequently E to F, E to G and H-J/H-I) to make longer pieces.

I have tried adding nodes, splitting, joining with new segments but I either distort or can't control total length from point to point (which I need to make for example a 10 x 10" or 8x6"frame.

Which action(s) do I need to execute to achieve this? Grateful for clear steps!

Help with shapes and distribution -total beginner

Hello all and thanks in advance for your help.

Short version: want to make curved pieces at particular distances to each other, cannot get lines to be parallel - there must be an easier way?

My apologies for the crappy picture: I want to make individual pieces (glass) to fit together to create the pill shaped form, so

  1. I managed to create the leaf shaped bit using the boolean tool with the pill and a rounded rectangle. Yey! But now...

  2. I now need to make the L shaped pieces but I cannot scale the rounded rectangle up so the curved corner stays parallel to the pink part (it always becomes wider or the curve changes).

  3. I would like learn how to accurately control the width and length of the L-shape (say 15mm as an example) and not eyeball it, because I need to make 3 more on the opposite side and would like to maintain proportions but increase length (I think I understand how to do that once I have it as a separate part, but probably making it more difficult than it needs to be.

Help and clear instructions much appreciated! Promise to show the final work when cut and soldered!

That tiny scrap of Lamberts is soooo gorgeous!

As I am only starting out, I have mainly scraps and offcut pieces from marketplace, but yesterday I was lucky enough to visit GLS (a glass wholesaler from the supply list in this group) and apart from buying a few "classics" I was also allowed to go through the scrap buckets/boxes- and I was in glass heaven!!!! All the glass here was in the boxes or on the "larger scrap" shelf!

I regularly drool over the glass many of you manage to score second hand in the US and what the shops there have freely available, the selection is so much more limited (and expensive) here, but now I know what you guys mean when you talk about visiting a "real" glass shop!\

If you're in Europe and get the chance to go there (only artists, retailers and education institutions/teachers (me, yey!) please do- they were so patient with me and I had the grandest time! (I innocently thought I might go in for "half an hour and buy "some glass"...pfffff....)\

Now what am I going to make....I need ideas for the Bullseye sample tiles (I got about 10)

Hi there, first post so apologies for any mistakes

Short version: want to learn how to create files to cut layout jigs (oval, teardrop) from mdf/plywood

I'd really like to use some layout forms/jigs/rigs, basic circle, ovals/oblong, teardrop, cathedral window to keep my edges neat (bloody beginner).

Unfortunately these don't seem to be available in Europe, and shipping cost + duties are forbiddingly high to order from the US (I really liked the ones from Glassola, especially the ones that are expandable like a jigsaw puzzle concept, but I am not looking to copy her idea, I am happy to just do basic forms).

I have access to some workshop equipment or/ and can pay to have mdf or plywood laser cut, but am completely inexperienced in creating the type of file (vectorised lines?) needed to send in for the cutting service.

Any tips or a pointer to instructions on how to create layout jig files or a video?

Thanks very much for your help and tips!

(P.S.: 3D-printing not an option costwise, sadly)
