Early Move in Day Horror

Just got to my room in the Tortuga hall and found out there’s a RA staying in my room? Now they’re giving me a temporary room and I can’t move into my actual room till Wednesday-Thursday???? why did they not think to let me know ahead of time and not make me waste my time driving 3 hours for a room that isn’t even ready.

update: my temp room became my permanent room. had a situation where i couldn’t wait till after thursday to move, and housing wasn’t much help and basically told me to just suck it up, but they literally took my idea about turning my temp room to my permanent room.. so problem solved? definitely might look for an apartment next year

Can you have your dorm bed lifted without fully lofting it?

Sorry if this is a dumb question I’ve just been told during orientation that the beds can be lofted so that you can have a desk underneath, but I was wondering if there’s an option to have the bed lifted raised a little instead of all the way up for a desk.

I’d mainly want to lift it enough to have some extra storage underneath (I’m having trouble looking for plastic drawers that are below 24 inches), but I don’t necessarily want the bed high enough to fit a desk underneath. Has anyone at CSUMB done this or know if it’s possible?

Best shower filter for CSUMB dorms?

Does anyone use a shower filter in the first-year residence halls? If so, which one would you recommend?

I’m looking for something that’s easy to install and remove, and that helps with the hard water.

I’d appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

Tips for hanging stuff on dorm walls?

Incoming freshman here,
For those living in the dorms with the brick walls, what do you use to hang stuff up? I want to bring posters/decorations, but I’m not sure what actually sticks to the brick without causing damage.
Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Requested a double + roommate but didn’t get either… what do I do now?

I applied for housing back in April and requested a double with a roommate I found on Instagram. At first, I got assigned to a double with someone completely different. Then I checked again couple of weeks ago and got switched into a triple with two different people again 😭

I tried emailing housing, but all they said was that they could put in a roommate change request in the system, but I haven’t heard back since. Has anyone else dealt with this before? Do you know when they usually start accepting room changes, or should I just suck it up and see how it goes?
